Scott Satterfield has a really cool story about his mentor Jerry Moore.
Moore, who is 87, is a former Texas Tech HC and longtime Appalachian State HC. He drove from Boone, NC to watch the Bearcats take down Texas Tech, who fired him in 1985.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved Root Beer. I still drink it to this day, and I think a big part of that has to do with my grandfather. Root Beer and the Word of God, they just go together.
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Joshua 1:8 NIV
It was great to catch up with my friend Coach @BrianHainesb with @CharlotteFTBL
This is a generation that is hungry for the truth. In a world filled with noise, opinions, false teachers, and compromising churches... the truth they are searching for is found in Jesus Christ. If we want to change the world, we must preach the Gospel. My prayer is that this generation would hunger for truth, stand firmly on God’s Word, and boldly follow Christ.
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword…” Hebrews 4:12
A little throw back Thursday , all the way back to late December 2002, Kristy and I had just started dating and I was falling in love with my soon to be wife.
I was a senior @WestPoint_USMA and she was playing @LibertyWSoccer for @LibertyU and I had just gotten back from deer hunting with my brothers. She wasn't afraid of me being a redneck ... God knew who needed.
Yesterday, I was very thankful to visit @GCU for the first time in Phoenix, tour campus with President Mueller, and meet some incredible students. I was grateful for the opportunity to encourage this next generation that if we want to change the world, we must boldly share the Gospel. Only through Christ can hearts be changed and our divided world find true hope. My prayer is that these students would be bold in their faith, stand firm on God’s Word, and hunger for the truth found in Scripture. – at Phoenix, AZ
Today at @TheBGLibrary, I am a proud big brother and we celebrated my sister, @CissieGLynch, and the hard work she has poured into her new book, Stand Steady. This book is a testament to her faith and to God's Word throughout her life. I’m thankful for everyone who came out to support her, and I’m looking forward to reading it for myself. I'm so very excited for you and love you, Cissie!
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
Romans 1:16 NIV
The Church today cannot compromise the truth of God’s Word to fit the culture around us. Anyone that does is not the body of Christ. I accept by faith that every word of the Bible is true, and the Gospel is nothing to be ashamed of. We need churches that preach the Gospel boldly and call people to genuine faith and obedience. If you are somewhere that has become stagnant or unwilling to stand for the truth, leave and find somewhere that does. There is POWER in his Word.
In Orlando, Florida at @SamaritansPurse Prescription for Renewal, I was able to spend time with 102 students representing 8 different schools from across the country. These students came to learn, sharpen their skills, and to see how God can use their talents in different medical professions to share the hope of the Gospel. I pray that during their time here, they were able to grow in boldness and be unashamed to share the love of Christ. – at Orlando, FL
This week, I’m in Orlando, FL for our annual Prescription for Renewal event, where hundreds of medical professionals have gathered to learn, grow, and fellowship together. Most importantly, they’re being reminded that medicine is a powerful tool for sharing the Gospel around the world. God has equipped @SamaritansPurse with incredible doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who are willing to use their gifts around the world to meet physical needs and share the hope of Jesus Christ. – at Orlando, FL
I'm the kid that grew up and lived his dream. Growing up, I had two posters on my wall, an Army Ranger and a West Point poster. When God called me away from the Army, I wasn't happy about it, I loved the Army and my 'family' that I was fortunate to serve with. Walking away meant leaving behind something I enjoyed and my comfort zone. But when God moves His hand, obedience requires trusting Him enough to surrender it all. My identity was never meant to be found in a uniform, a unit, or a career. It’s found in Jesus Christ.
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—”
John 1:12 NIV
Two years ago today, Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina. In the immediate aftermath, I visited this church in Pensacola, NC after it had been completely destroyed. Today, after @SamaritansPurse helped rebuild this church with the help of volunteers from all over, it is once again housing worship and thriving with the Gospel. There has been incredible progress throughout the areas devastated by Helene, but the work isn’t finished. Families and communities are still rebuilding, and @SamaritansPurse will not leave until the job is done.
Bob Pierce, the founder of @SamaritansPurse, said, “Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God.” I believe that Jesus not only loves the innocent child injured in war, but also the fighter influenced by evil to intentionally hurt that child. @SamaritansPurse goes to the ditches of the world to serve those in need, and we do it in the name of Jesus Christ. We want everyone, regardless of who they are, to know that God sent His Son to die on the cross for them.
