THE CEASEFIRE HAS COMMENCED
The ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia took effect at 4:00am Moscow time on October 27, 2026.
Timing was accelerated two days ahead of schedule to protect the safety of civilians and to facilitate the delivery of critical humanitarian aid. The ceasefire’s geographic area has expanded beyond Oleshky, within the Kherson Region, to provide safe passage for the humanitarian convoys.

This year, Ukraine’s positions on the front remain stronger than they have been in a long time during this war. If our partners’ support for Ukraine remained just as strong – particularly when it comes to Patriots and other air defense capabilities – Ukraine would be in a much better position diplomatically as well. Just now, in October alone – since October 14 – there have already been several Russian ballistic missile attacks. Essentially, in two weeks, more than 100 ballistic missiles have been launched against Kyiv and the region. Ukraine has captured more than a thousand Russian soldiers, according to the account of these events. The men taken into custody are prisoners of war, entitled to protection under international law.
There is a particularly painful contrast here. United Nations investigators have documented cases of Russian forces executing Ukrainian soldiers who had surrendered or were otherwise defenseless. Those men should have been protected the moment they ceased fighting.
The treatment of prisoners is not supposed to depend on which army they served in, how their government behaves or what crimes their fellow soldiers may have committed.
A Russian soldier who surrenders deserves to live. So does a Ukrainian soldier.
That is not a favour granted by the victorious side. It is one of the most fundamental rules of war, and every army is bound by it.

When there is something relevant to report on the policies of Serbia's new, still non-existent government, I will. Right now, there simply isn't anything of note to analyze. Based on the various contradictory statements coming from different people in the movement, the new Serbia could end up looking like anything from Mugabe's Zimbabwe to Switzerland. You can't cherry-pick from this slop. We have to wait for concrete action.

With its help, Ukraine will be able to develop its own communications infrastructure, relying less on foreign satellite systems.
