Cheaper heating would be available for the UK as a whole by using more heat pumps. However, it is currently NOT cheaper for individuals - due to the high levies on electricity!

CCC says: "Removing electricity policy costs — levied on the unit price of electricity at 20 times the rate of gas — would reduce annual electricity bills by £190 for a typical household with a gas boiler and by £490 for a typical household with a heat pump."

We do *NOT* need the Recar trial - we already know that hydrogen for heating is uneconomic. We do *NOT* need a consultation on green levies - we already know these should have been lifted from electric bills years ago to allow the transition to clean heating. RT if you agree.

The oil and gas industry is harming our economy and health by destabilising the climate by facilitating the emission of carbon on an unprecedented scale. It's time to just stop burning things. There are clear alternatives: let's use them!
The oil and gas industry has huge benefits to the UK's economy. Swipe through to see how it's helping grow our economy and halve inflation 👉

Carbon Capture and Storage is a failed technology that should never be funded by Gov. The oil cos offer it as a plausible alternative to electrification: a deliberate distraction. If oil cos really believed in it they could fund it for themselves!
UK carbon capture & storage, or CCUS, could: 👷‍♀️ support 50k new jobs in 2030 📈 add up to £5 billion to the economy by 2050 🌎 help us meet Net Zero targets But what is it? And what do elephants & CCUS have to do with each other? 🐘🇬🇧 Watch to find out⬇️

The headlong rush to burn more oil and gas is strangling sustainable life on earth and is driving millions of families into poverty and thousands of businesses to the verge of bankruptcy. With your support, we need to expose the disingenuous arguments of the GWPF.
The headlong rush for renewables and the strangling of reliable forms of energy has left millions of families in poverty, and tens of thousands of businesses on the verge of bankruptcy.

It’s with your support that we’re able to continue our vital work👇 thegwpf.org/please-support-t…

We also know that: Grant Shapps is the chief promoter of Just Stop Oil by failing to tackle climate change The Gov continues to tax electricity heavily which is preventing the transition to clean heating The low UK tax on gas and oil is encouraging further burning.
What we know: 🥀Labour are in the pocket of @JustStop_Oil 💰Labour are funded by JSO backer Dale Vince 🏳️Labour have adopted JSO’s energy surrender plan 🗳️Labour voted to weaken our laws on disruptive protest aimed to stop JSO And now this:  dailymail.co.uk/news/article…

I'm not in favour of the Just Stop Oil disruptions. But the Gov does need to show it means to address the urgent climate change issues: It's time to stop taxing electricity. It's time to start taxing the use of oil and gas. Pls RT if you agree.

There is a strong case for imposing green levies on gas. There is NO case for imposing green levies on electricity when we urgently need to electrify heat and electrify transport to combat climate change.

The government should NOT be using public money to subsidise the research of oil companies on improbable research. If the oil companies really believed in CCS they could afford to fund it for their own benefit.
New UK #netzero plan targets emissions & costs - but No ban on oil and gas flaring No ban on #fossilfuel subsidies No ban on petrol and diesel vehicles Reliance on untested Carbon Capture and Storage Support for green hydrogen: a dead end technology bbc.co.uk/news/science-envir…

A key role for Government is to set the right fiscal background for the transition to clean heating. It is currently doing the opposite - by imposing large levies and taxes on electricity, and low taxes on burning gas.

The Government should not be wasting our £ on speculative research. If the oil companies believed in CCS they could fund it themselves. CCS is an expensive distraction dreamt up by oil companies to delay a genuine transition to clean energy.
The £20bn plans to store carbon under the sea. CCS may be coming at last - to allow gas to shore up the power grid. But it used to be said that #CCS had to run 24/7 to be efficient. What changed? ⁦@stuarthazeldine⁩ thetimes.co.uk/article/37247…

We badly need electrolytic hydrogen for fertiliser production. Let's not waste it on heating houses and cooking the planet.

It would be unhealthy to blend pure hydrogen into the gas grid - it would increase NOx emissions and aggravate respiratory diseases.

The deeper problem than having insufficient engineers is the UK's fiscal background: the Treasury taxes electricity so much that the running cost of heat pumps is almost as high as that of burning (lightly taxed) gas. Engineers will re-train when it becomes worthwhile.
