announcements like this "£600m will be invested to protect health and security from AI, including £100m for a new AI biosecurity lab and £65m to develop countermeasures against pathogens" should remind you how poor the UK is

Interesting to think that Western civilisation is built on the values that stem from the idea of a god who walked as a man. While, through AI, we're obsessed with being men who become gods.

One of the best things Palantir ever did was hire engineers with no sales experience to form its sales team. And no, those engineers had no talent, intuition or any subsequent training on how to sell.

The people asking exactly how AI kills us are naive. It's axiomatic that not being the smartest species is a disadvantage. You don't need a scenario to accept that. "Just pull the plug" is bafflingly ill-thought-out.. There will be thousands of systems, thousands of owners, each doing one thing slightly better than we do. Some in the economy, some working as critical doctors The real risk isn't a takeover. It's a series of Faustian bargains, each one sensible on its own. Better doctors, hedge funds and leaner orgs. Control given away in slices until humans no longer have the cognition or attention hours to participate in our own institutions. Whether the scales tip positive or negative is the only question worth asking. But we end with a radically different socioeconomic model either way. Are LLMs enough to get us there? Unlikely. Are they one component of a wider system of compounding innovations? Very likely. That system is still being built. Well-scoped implementation now keeps us more in the loop than thumb-twiddling and subsiquently installing the largest agents we can
43
What's being missed is that even a relatively average human-level intelligence model, with a near-infinite attention span, or infinite singular focus, is a super-intelligence. A lot more problems than we think are just a hill climb

Going to #AIconferences feels like everyone is jogging around Silverstone making 'vroom-vroom' noises. They just have no clue how outdated the thinking already is.

AI Labs will own the threat and the defence in cyber. They'll profit immensely at the intersection

To enable an experience of gratitude and hunger at the same time is the greatest achievement of a civilisation

The UK doesn't need an election, or a new prime minister, a poverty tour or insignificant typed out speeches. We need our own Lee Kuan Yew to come into the spotlight; with the same vision and dedication

I know nothing about football. But I did watch #ArgentinaVsEngland. It's a stark reminder that defence is asymmetrically more difficult than offence. Where are you defending small gains when you should be aiming to compound the wins?

Luxury has become cheap, while necessity has become expensive. It looks like we live lavish lives, but the reality is many struggle.

Intelligence is sovereignty. Labour is sovereignty.

It's the job of the parents to prevent their children from being on social media or to understand the dangers of porn. Not the government. Culture eats strategy for breakfast, and ID to access information is six steps towards Orwell and, pragmatically, zero towards safety.

As we've coded more with agents, the strictness of our codebase increased. When you think about it, it makes sense. Agents are just a lot more tolerant of process than developers. So we turn the dial up.

vcs are cyclical in their risk appetites, but now the pace of innovation cripples them if they get caught in a low risk moment when the technology is moving so fast.

Don't make a bureaucratic system that shouldn't exist merely more efficient with AI. If the process shouldn't exist, automating it means you're wasting time faster.

Andustry (@andustry_hq) is an AI-native broker that helps manufacturers find suppliers for industrial goods. Hardware sourcing takes months, and teams almost always overpay. Andustry helps customers save 30% on costs, while cutting sourcing time in half. Congrats on the launch, @hetdv & @JStuerken! ycombinator.com/launches/QP4…

Why would a product company building a frontier AI application acquire companies? A better question for Aries might be: Why is acquisition necessary to build an AI operating system? ...🧵

A1 is the infrastructure to transform the mid-market software economy, turning great companies into powerhouses, without the organisational drag that usually comes with scale This isn’t about cost-cutting. It’s about growth. Enabling our group to massively scale their business
