After two wonderful months in Riyadh, we had to leave rather suddenly, without my husband. It was a long, exhausting journey from Bahrain to Addis Ababa and finally home to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
On our Ethiopian Airlines flight, we all fell fast asleep. When I woke up, my four-year-old daughter was missing from her seat. I found her a few rows ahead, fast asleep in the arms of a lovely flight attendant named Lydia.
She had woken up crying and confused, and Lydia, not wanting to disturb me, had picked her up, comforted her and rocked her back to sleep. My little girl stayed there for the next three hours.
In the middle of a difficult journey, this beautiful act of kindness meant the world. Thank you, Ethiopian Airlines, and especially Lydia, for reminding us that kindness and humanity know no borders. ❤️

denying clear evidence of UAE direct (& critical) help & enabling for RSF‘s genocide is not what a UN Secretary General should be doing
In July 2024, Lana Nusseibeh publicly and categorically rejected the UN Panel of Experts’ findings of credible evidence that #UAE supports the atrocities and genocide committed by the Rapid Support Forces (#RSF) militia in Sudan.
Confronted on CNN, she declared: “No. Those allegations are categorically untrue.” Asked directly whether she disputed the UN experts’ findings, she replied: “Yes, absolutely.”
Now, Ms. Nusseibeh seeks to lead the very institution whose findings she so emphatically dismissed in defence of her government. How can she possibly be entrusted with that responsibility? The fundamental question is not whether Nusseibeh was entitled to defend her regime. It is whether someone who placed that defence above the credible findings of UN experts can genuinely be entrusted with upholding the independence, integrity, and authority of the United Nations.
Why should the world trust her judgment when the UN’s findings conflict with the interests of the very government that nominated her? The UN highest office is not for protecting a criminal regime from scrutiny and accountability. The seat of the UN Secretary-General should not be for sale!

Nadia Murad, a Yazidi survivor of ISIS sexual slavery who won the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize for campaigning against sexual violence as a weapon of war, has endorsed Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE’s minister of state and former UN ambassador, for UN secretary-general, despite her role as the UAE’s point person on Sudan, helping shield Abu Dhabi’s role as the chief military backer of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), whose fighters have perpetrated widespread rape, sexual slavery, mass murder and other atrocities.
In April 2024, Nusseibeh publicly dismissed accusations of Emirati support for the RSF as “baseless” even as Amnesty International identified the UAE as the chief backer of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
A June UN report verified 546 incidents of conflict-related sexual violence affecting at least 838 victims, attributing roughly 87% of incidents to the RSF and allied groups.
Sudan’s Attorney General Entisar Ahmed Abdel Aal said in June that a national investigative committee had documented 2,200 rape cases since the war began in April 2023.
Doctors Without Borders separately reported treating at least 3,396 survivors of sexual violence in North and South Darfur between January 2024 and November 2025. These figures represent only a fraction of the true scale.
In November 2025, Amnesty International documented the testimony of a mother who said RSF fighters raped her as she fled El Fasher with her children.
Her 14-year-old daughter subsequently told her: “Mum, they raped me too, but do not tell anyone.”
The mother said her daughter became seriously ill following the assault. Her condition deteriorated, and she died at a clinic after reaching Tawila.

When Lana Nusseibeh visited a refugee camp in eastern Chad in an attempt to polish her country's image by handing out aid a number of Sudanese refugees refused it outright.
They stated they didn't want sacks of flour but for the UAE to stop funding the RSF genocidaires.
I am standing to be Secretary-General because I believe this is a moment to act with greater urgency: to act earlier, bring people together across difference, and drive the work forward until it produces concrete results. That is how we rebuild trust in the United Nations and ensure it delivers meaningful change for the people it exists to serve.

Let's not forget that Lana herself is part of the UAE's killing machine and played a pivotal role in removing the name of the UAE from the EU's final resolution. She travelled to the EU and lobbied its members for this goal.
She has blood on her hands and can't lead the UN.

An Ilyushin Il-76TD cargo aircraft was seen at Asosa Airport in Ethiopia’s 🇪🇹 Benishangul region, near Sudan 🇸🇩. It arrived from the UAE 🇦🇪, likely via Bole Airport or Harar Meda Airbase.

Planet satellite imagery obtained by Reuters reveals damage at a market in the disputed Abyei region hit by an SAF 🇸🇩 drone on Monday, killing at least 153 people.
Three diplomatic sources told Reuters the strike hit a fuel depot previously used by the RSF to supply its forces.

Ethiopia has become the number one launch platform for RSF militia drones targeting facilities, cities and civilians in Sudan. Today, numerous drones attempted to strike the Setit Dam, Gedaref and Khashm el-Girba; yesterday, Bahri and Damazin were targeted.
Whenever the UAE-backed RSF militia suffers a crushing defeat, it turns to targeting civilians, public facilities and people's homes.

We are pleased to announce that, after two days on the road, our assigned team arrived safely in El Obied with the 15.5 tonnes of food aid that they were entrusted to deliver.
The journey to the previously besieged city of El Obied remains fraught with danger, and we are grateful to our assigned team for having the courage and professionalism to make this aid delivery and distribution a success.
These pictures show the joy and relief of some of the 500 families during distribution.
