I attended a routine mammogram on April 7th. Five days later, I was recalled. Within an hour, I had another mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy due to something detected on the scans, but nothing in the lymph nodes. On May 1st, I was diagnosed with stage 2, 14mm ER receptive carcinoma. On Friday June 14th, I had a lumpectomy with lymph node biopsy, results expected in July. Less than 24 hours after surgery, I attended a conference for Charlotte in London, who sacrificed so much in her short life. I plan to use this diagnosis to raise awareness of the importance of mammograms. I’m grateful for the swift and efficient diagnosis and surgery. Cancer research often receives significant donations, unlike brain cancer, which remains my primary focus for raising awareness and funding. On Thursday 27th June, less than two weeks post-surgery, I’ll walk overnight from Lions Ward, Kings College Hospital, London to Hove.
