Explaining how @category_xyz 's flexible-auth mechanism enables post-quantum signature schemes without breaking interoperability:
Replying to @argsaraus @internbrah
Not really. Addresses are like usernames, and private keys are like passwords. And addresses are used across various EVM ecosystems (like how you might use the same username across websites).
The main difference between addresses/PrivateKeys and usernames/passwords is that an address is generated by a private key, i.e. you can't just pick whatever address you want, you have to hold the private key that generates it.
So up until now, addresses were 1:1 with private keys. But this proposal changes that. Now you can "change your password" (switch to a different signature scheme, with a different variety of private key) while preserving your address, by signing the change with your old private key.
If anything, this proposal makes it easier to switch to a PQ signature scheme while continuing to interoperate with the rest of the Ethereum ecosystem. The main thing that would need to change is the wallets. But this is part of the reason why you see @category_xyz working on wallet infra as well, so there is a good backup plan.
MIP-12 - reduce Monad block times by decreasing the vote pacing from 400ms to 300ms - has been published by @category_xyz
The vote pacing determines the min block time. Reducing it allows the network to proceed faster if quorum has been achieved
The tech has already supported this improvement, but mainnet launched with an extra buffer. With this change and others, you鈥檒l see the network continue to harden and streamline
This paper from @ittaia, @ElodinStorm, and Ling Ren is a nice result. It establishes that censorship resistance comes at the lower bound cost of 2 additional rounds of latency. This is the worst case (slow network or faulty proposers).
@category_xyz will have a lot more to say on this shortly. Watch This Space.

building a private app should be easy
developers shouldn't have to learn a new language, bridge to a new chain, or get deep into cryptography
privacy tools should just work
Introducing the Monad dedicated device subsidy program
Monad Foundation will be subsidizing the cost of dedicated signing laptops, for multisig, treasury, and other critical operations, to all protocol teams with at least $2.5M of TVL on Monad.
Your signing machine should NEVER be the same as the one you use for everyday browsing, coding, or taking calls.
Details below:
v0.14.0 of the Monad client has been released.
This update includes several key user-facing improvements and bug fixes:
- [Feat] Adds a new RPC endpoint eth_fillTransaction that takes an unsigned, partially filled transaction object and returns it with all missing fields populated, ready for signing and broadcasting.
- [Perf][Behavioral] eth_getTransactionReceipt and eth_getBlockReceipts are now available at "Proposed" time, making the responses ~400s faster.
- [Perf] eth_getLogs calls return faster for recent blocks that are still in memory.
- [Perf][Behavioral] newHeads and logs subscriptions (EVM spec) now notify on "Proposed" blocks instead of "Voted", aligning with monadNewHeads and monadLogs.
- [Fix] Blocktags in eth_getLogs are fixed. Previously, all of them resolved to the latest block. Now, they resolve to their correct statuses.
