ELC Director and Founder Ruth Greenwood co-hosts Season 3 of The Future of Our Former Democracy, a More Equitable Democracy (MED) podcast co-hosted by Colin Cole. This season explores Australia's electoral system and voting culture.
In Australia, elections are neither explosive or contentious, and voters tend to trust the results of the electoral process.
Prof. Greenwood, a native Australian and voting rights expert, talks about the culture of Australian elections and weighs in on how global voting processes shape trust in government!

Yesterday, the Election Law Clinic and ACLU-NJ filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of Mercer County, New Jersey, on behalf of three individual voters in Bay Head, NJ and the League of Women Voters of New Jersey,
who were unlawfully targeted by the Ocean County Board of Elections and threatened with disenfranchisement weeks before the upcoming election in November.
This lawsuit is the first brought under the John R. Lewis Voter Empowerment Act of New Jersey (NJVEA). Read more here: aclu-nj.org/press-releases/a…
The Election Law Clinic recently filed a brief opposing a motion to dismiss in the Clinic’s lawsuit against the City of Colorado Springs.
As the response brief states, ELC’s clients have adequately alleged a claim of voter suppression under COVRA, and the City’s arguments as to the constitutionality of the claim are erroneous and do not provide a basis for dismissing the case.

On Friday, September 18, ELC represented voters of Quincy, Massachusetts at a hearing before the Norfolk County Superior Court. The City of Quincy rejected voters’ signatures on a local ballot petition.
In April 2026, the Court declared that the City’s hyper-technical review process violated Massachusetts law. At the most recent hearing, an ELC student attorney argued that the Court should enter that decision as a final judgment.

Last week, on September 16, ELC appeared before the Wisconsin Supreme Court in a lawsuit challenging the state's congressional map as an anti-competitive gerrymander.
