I just never feel as excited to watch these showcases. Again, can't tell if I'm out of touch or I'm just picky and like what I like. I'm glad that lots of my friends will tell me about cool indie games and stuff I actually want to see.
Where are my stylized Personas? My cel shaded, vibrant colored adventure games? Charming adventure games that have depth and aren't just the "friend slop" genre. AC Black Flag resync and the new Cuphead games are what I want to see more of.
Every year, seeing these "hyper realistic" games at Summer Games Fest or Game Awards makes me feel like I'm the one out of touch with modern gaming. General human designs, dark lighting, same plot and gameplay, all undead/alien enemies... They don't feel unique from each other.
