I need to see something beautiful every single day or I'm gonna lose it. Exegete of beauty and culture. Quality human touch on keyboard, fingers slip at times.

I'll leave a typo here and there, to through you off a pic. Adds a bit of "realism".

The reason you lose beauty, strength, vitality, and health with age is to help you realize that wisdom comes with such a price. You can't truly value it unless you gain it through the loss of all that once seemed permanent.

Just a sign the system isn't fixable tbh.

A lot of our own culture is shaped by the people we meet. I’ve met an incredibly diverse range of people, all from backgrounds that would rarely intersect, which made the experience especially enriching. At one point I was close to people my age who were really into old-time radio shows and Golden Age Hollywood. Think Liz Taylor but also the silent era with Doug Fairbanks and Mary Pickford. Because they were into it I absorbed a lot of it almost like a cultural novelty. I listened to a lot of old-time radio shows like The Jack Benny Show (Lucky Strike sponsored them hehe, X-Minus One and Lights Out. In a way it helped me learn English and gave me a broader vocabulary which was already fairly extensive partly because so many English words come from French anyway. I really see how younger generations including people here on X are terrible at interacting well irl. When you don't meet people and learn to interact with those who are very different from you you're truly missing out on a huge part of the human experience which shapes us through discomfort and unfamiliarity.
I was talking about this with my sister yesterday. When I was a child, I was very aware of who Errol Flynn, Cary Grant, Rudolf Valentino, Joan Crawford & Bette Davis were. I listened to the Benny Goodman orchestra and could sing songs by Cole Porter, Noël Coward or Carlos Gardel. I read loads and loads of books from all eras, from my Pocket Collins poetry anthology of sonnets that I carried with me everywhere, to Henry Miller's Tropics. For children and young people today, History began in the year 2000. They either don't know or don't care and are historically illiterate.

Owning land is more within reach than most young Americans realize. Dr. Jill Malone says rural property is cheap, and remote work makes the move possible. “Rural America right now is dying, and property is cheap.” “You can go to West Virginia, even parts of rural Virginia, and pick up a house and 10 acres.” “Starlink allows you to remote work.” “You do not have to live in the city.” “When you live in a rural community, you have an intentional community.” “Buy the cruddy house, buy a house you can take a little loan on, pay it off rapidly, then you have all that equity.” @JillGMalonePhD

« Whatever happens to me is for my own good. This space-time is the dimension my spirit has chosen in which to incarnate. My loves and my friends allow me to discover my capacity to love. My enemies and the obstacles that stand in my way serve to test my capacity for resilience and struggle. My problems allow me to understand myself better. I chose my planet. I chose my country. I chose my era. I chose my parents. I chose my body. From the moment I become aware that what surrounds me stems from my own desire, I can no longer complain or feel a sense of injustice. I can no longer feel misunderstood. I can only try to understand why my soul needs these specific trials in order to move forward. Every night, during my sleep, this message is brought back to my attention in the form of dreams, in case I should ever forget it. Everything around me is there to instruct me. Everything that happens to me is there to help me evolve. » Pythagorean Wisdom
