This could happen: (I've updated the expectations)
As crazy as this sounds, $1T in SpaceX revenue in 2028 is no longer impossible
On this day: October 19, 2016
Tesla announced that every car built in its factory would now ship with the hardware for full self-driving.
That meant eight surround cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, a forward-facing radar, and a new onboard computer with more than 40 times the computing power of the previous generation.
Model S and Model X with the new hardware were already in production that day, and Model 3 was included too.
"Self-driving vehicles will play a crucial role in improving transportation safety and accelerating the world's transition to a sustainable future."
A share bought that day closed at $13.57 split-adjusted, and it closed at $368.06 today.
The stock is up 2,612% since that day.
Elon wants every child in America to own a piece of SpaceX.
Next year, he plans to give one of his own SpaceX shares to every child in the country, and he says it will be "the first of many."
President Trump thanked him this afternoon and said the gift will go through Trump Accounts, the new investment accounts for American kids that Treasury launched on July 4.
Elon's reasoning is that shares are "stakes in the future economy," and he wants to give them "directly to the people."
This will make millions of kids owners of the company building Starship and Starlink before turning 18.
SpaceX reports its third quarter results tomorrow. This next generation should have a stake in the future. They have a reason to pay close attention.
Tesla's third-quarter car sales came close to breaking a record even though the tax credit ended in Q2!
Tesla delivered 486.5K vehicles in Q3 2026, just below the 497.1K record in Q3 2025.
Tesla also delivered about 22K more cars than it built.
I predict Q4 will handily surpass half a million vehicle deliveries (and since stock valuations are highly sensitive to future growth expectations, I would expect Wall Street analysts to revise their price targets upwards if Tesla does deliver a fantastic number).
Tesla deployed ~47 times more energy storage in 2025 than in 2018.
It grew from roughly 1 GWh to 47 GWh in seven years. Megapacks are now going into utility grids and into the data centers being built to train SI, where they smooth out huge swings in power demand. As SI compute scales, electricity is quickly becoming the main bottleneck, and grid-scale batteries are one of the fastest ways to add usable capacity.
If power is one of the main limits on the race to superintelligence, how big does Tesla Energy get?
Starlink brought in $11.4 billion in 2025, well over half of SpaceX's revenue last year.
That cash helps fund Starship and the push to Mars.
Internet from space is funding humanity's path to becoming multiplanetary :)
Insane possibilities as Neuralink continues to scale!
Neuralink recently announced their clinical trial participants have used their implants for a combined total over 50,000 hours.
At ~27 patients, this means each patient has used their device for nearly 2,000 hours.
Assuming 16 hours of use per day, 7 days per week, that's an average of ~4 months of nonstop usage per patient.
One of Neuralink's main advantages is *scale.* Assuming this growth continues, they'll have more detailed brain data than any company in the world.
Actually, I'm sure they already have more of this data than any company in the world!
1. Imagine what will happen when they have 10s and 100s of millions of brain implants all pattern matching when people are developing dementia or about to have a stroke or depressed.
2. Imagine their ability to train an AI model just like ChatGPT, but instead of using words to train a large language model (LLM), they can use brain data to train a neural foundation model.
3. Imagine using the brain data from the fleet to create a fully digital recreation of the human brain that is optimized for learning and skill development- just like Tesla's FSD is an artificial driver trained on the data of millions of real drivers.
3.1. With that brain, could you directly plug it into Optimus and create a superhuman? Did someone say SpaceXxTeslaxNeuralinkxBoring?
The possibilities are limitless.
Elon says SpaceXAI will be renamed as SpaceXSI.
SI: Superintelligence.
It could be pronounced Space-Sexy 😉
The SpaceXAI team has just released Grokipedia v0.3- "An open, comprehensive collection of all knowledge."

TERAFAB progress:
Want a sneak peak at some astounding @SpaceX & @Tesla TERAFAB progress?
Here just a couple of brand-new images of the TERAFAB construction site in Grimes County, Texas.
My last flight was on the 11th of September or just over 2 weeks ago, and just check out the amount of progress they have made since!
Concrete footings on the one large rectangular cleared section are mostly poured while others show the re3bar faces set in place and waiting for concrete. The tree clearing to the north of this foundation segment has widened the area significantly. On the south side, the “postage stamp” rectangular area has grown many times larger with clearing and the Starlink ground station antenna globes have been moved.
I’ll release more and a video update soon … just need to find time in between my Lithium video today and Starship Flight 14 on Monday. There is so much going on and this is only a fraction of what SpaceX and Tesla have going on!
Truly crazy in all the best ways!

Bill Gates is incorrect about electric semi trucks- Tesla has had many Tesla semi customers over the years, and now they are scaling up production to 50,000 units/ year!
Replying to @cb_doge
When I talked to Gates in person, he said “experts tell me a long range electric semi truck is impossible”.
However, when I asked what his assumptions were about battery energy density and vehicle energy consumption per mile, which are the two numbers needed to determine range, he did not know either number!
I also offered to let him take one of our semi trucks for independent testing, but he declined. Not sure what more I could have done. 🤷♂️
If this gets more than 69 likes, I'll update the Elon, Explained .com homepage to highlight that Elon has named his pecker, "frankly." 🤣

An update to Grokipedia v0.2 is being developed.
According to Elon, the goal of Grokipedia is, "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth."
Upon further improvements, Grokipedia will be renamed: "Encyclopedia Galactica." It is an “open source distillation of all knowledge, including audio, images and video.”
Elon has also talked about etching copies in a stable oxide and sending them to orbit, the Moon, and Mars so the knowledge would survive.

This is how Neuralink's Blindsight product will work:
Neuralink's next human trial will be for their Blindsight product, which is a visual prosthesis that will help the blind see.
The sight will be low resolution at the beginning, but in the future, people will be able to see better than healthy humans.
Neuralink currently has three active FDA clinical trials:
1. PRIME- controlling a computer
2. CONVOY- controlling a robotic arm
3. VOICE- restoration of speech
For Blindsight to work, the neurosurgeon and surgical robot will implant a small chip package into the back of the head, where the visual cortex is located.
Very thin metal wires (shown in the image attached) are carefully inserted by the robot into the brain tissue. These wires each have 8 sensors that pick up the electrical activity of nearby neurons.
The user will wear a pair of glasses that has subtly embedded cameras. The video being captured by the cameras will be streamed to the phone. The phone will use AI to translate that video into information the brain can understand.
That information will be sent from the phone to the Neuralink implant via Bluetooth. At that point, the Neuralink will stimulate neurons in the visual cortex to beam flashes of light that recreate the actual video.
This technology is making science fiction a reality. When I think about Neuralink, one quote keeps coming to mind:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - Arthur C. Clarke
Elon's latest comments regarding the debate on how the future of AI should be handled:

Dario is right that there should be some oversight. Peer review of AI by competitors is the right way to start this off.
