Art should make you feel something, to ponder the intent of its creator. This portrait aims to capture my introspective nature, and the youthful beauty I once had, contrasting it with the urban decay of my birthplace. An image, that I hope, evokes emotion through its composition.
Democracy has many virtues. It confers legitimacy, but as we have seen in the USA, it is not infallible. So will the wisdom of crowds be democracy’s salvation or will the paradox of political competence versus universal suffrage be its undoing? cato.org/policy-report/septe…

People double down on a con because admitting that they were conned forces them to face psychological discomfort and emotional embarrassment. psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/…
Political journalist Simon Heffer, who sits in the House of Lords as conservative peer Lord Blackwater, reviewing Liz Truss’s new book:
“Like an alcoholic who cannot admit they have a drinking problem, the former PM is convinced that everyone else is to blame for her failures.”

This is a confession to treason.
Elon Musk, a private individual and not an elected official, hijacked U.S. national defence policy to harm partner Ukraine and help enemy Russia.

Republicans let an unelected South African ketamine junkie fire 270K American workers, steal our data, starve the world's poorest children, shut down investigations into his companies, and set himself up with billions in government contracts.
And DOGE cost more than it saved.
So, it’s true, I’m a witch. My spell summoning tides of ecstasy. A most powerful and ancient rite, assisted by a modern magic wand.

According to The Economist:
"It appears to have come from a small circle around the president, Mr Musk and Steve Witkoff, the special envoy to Russia. Reports suggest Mr Musk wanted to punish Ukraine for striking Russian refineries. One official says he contacted the White House only after imposing the restrictions."
If true, this suggests Elon Musk imposed the terminal-speed restrictions unilaterally, before notifying the White House.
Congress must urgently investigate whether Musk acted without government authorization. It is unacceptable for a private citizen to exercise unilateral control over a vital military capability. Starshield is a defense system, and decisions to restrict its operational capabilities should rest with the appropriate government authorities, not the CEO of a private contractor.
This should alarm everyone.

A wild story: the CEO of a US energy company whose plans were discussed during the Witkoff-Kushner-Putin negotiations resigns. Why? He learned that his company's main investor is a sanctioned Russian company, not the UAE

Puritanical Christian populists attempt to shame women by suggesting they sleep with too many men; and to shame men who sleep with men. So, evidently, sleeping with men is the deadly sin. In that case I’m practically a saint.
🎶 You don’t have to say you love me, just be close at hand
You don’t have to stay forever, I will understand
Believe me, believe me, I can’t help but love you
But believe me, I’ll never tie you down
Left alone with just a memory
Life seems dead and so unreal
Transformational leaders inspire people to achieve exceptional outcomes. Pseudo-transformational leaders appear charismatic because of their grandiose rhetoric and unwarranted self-confidence. But they are primarily motivated by self-interest. psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/…
