An error in basic aerosol science, that keeps getting repeated.
He is VAPING, generating a vapor, ISOLATED MOLECULES in the gas phase. Those pass the mask fine
Then they condense to form aerosols OUTSIDE the mask, which scatter light & are visible

Science explorations with the Clean Air Team and Richmond students were a breeze of fresh air !🌬️
Students worked together in learning about wildfires, the air quality's impact on health, and assembled air filters for their entire school community! #airscience #cleanair

Human pollution and marine microbiology mediate the organic composition of sea spray aerosol in coastal contexts. Read more on this research in ES&T: go.acs.org/2Vh
#NewPaperAlert!
Sea spray aerosols move organics from the ocean to the atmosphere, both biogenic and anthropogenic. Smelling a sea breeze near a surf beach? that probably has some sunscreen 🌊🧴

Also really fun first example of Ch3MS-RF in action- atmospheric organics are incredibly diverse/complicated and most things we see with GC-EI-MS can't be ID'ed, but with Ch3MS we can go chromatogram➡️VBS or Kroll diagram!

Interested in sea spray aerosol organic composition and/or ML enabled analysis of complex GC-MS datasets? Come by 9EI.6 at 1:00 to chat! #AAAR2022
It's official! (but a little anticlimactic?)

So much thanks to @allenhgoldstein for being a wonderful advisor.
Looking forward to joining @ChemDelphine as an NSF MPS-Ascend postdoctoral fellow in a few short weeks!
Introducing Ch3MS-RF, a #ML based model for predicting chemical properties from RT and EI mass spec alone! GC-MS user with lots of spectra that can't be matched? #rstats #OpenSource repository is available, please get in touch if interested! amt.copernicus.org/articles/…
