This is Mike’s wife. With a heavy heart, I share the news of his passing after a courageous seven-year battle with CRC. May his legacy live on through those he helped train with an unwavering commitment to patient care, surgical education, and technical excellence.

Registered dietitians are ready to provide nutritional therapy for #IBD
💡 85% of patients with IBD think it is helpful to have access to a dietitian for nutrition advice
👉🏻especially immediately upon diagnosis
But:
Over 50% of dietitians see patients with IBD infrequently
⚠ Barriers:
⛔ Lack of emphasis by medical staff on the role of diet in IBD
⛔ Inadequate number of publicly funded dietitians
⛔ Cost of private practice dietitians
🤝 Let's work together so dietitians become the norm, not the exception, in IBD care

Great talk by @CNewberryMD as she discussed how to ‘Minimize the burn”
✔️Not a lot of data on our classic elimination
✔️Consider macro changes (size of meals and fat consumption) & timing of meals
✔️ Should be a targeted/personalized approach
