My wife called me from a business trip and confessed that she had met a man at her hotel. I was watching television when her call came in. Me: “Hey, baby. How’s the trip going?” Wife: “There’s something I need to tell you.” Me: “What’s wrong?” She hesitated. Wife: “I met someone at the hotel. We’ve been spending time together.” I sat upright. Me: “What do you mean by spending time together?” Wife: “We had dinner, talked for hours, and eventually spent two nights together.” I went silent. Me: “You slept with him?” Wife: “Yes.” I took a deep breath. Me: “Do you regret it?” She paused before answering. Wife: “Not exactly. There’s something about him I haven’t told you.” Me: “What?” Wife: “He knows you. He actually asked me to bring you along next time.” I frowned. Me: “How does a man you’ve just met know me?” She went quiet. Me: “What’s his name?” Wife: “Daniel.” That name meant nothing to me. But the next thing she said made me put down my phone. Wife: “He said you would remember him once you saw his face.”
