That sewer scene is genuinely one of the most disturbing moments in #Clayface because it shows that Matt’s obsession had completely consumed whatever humanity he had left. 💀
Think about it. This man could become ANYONE. He could wear a thousand faces, reshape his entire body and fool the world. Yet he couldn’t accept the one thing he couldn’t control: Caitlyn’s feelings for him.
So what does he do? He uses his own flesh to construct a version of her. Not because he wants her back, but because he wants a Caitlyn who cannot reject him, abandon him or choose someone else.
Matt didn’t just want Caitlyn’s love anymore. He wanted ownership of her existence.
That’s what makes it so horrifying. He had reached a point where a woman who couldn’t speak for herself, couldn’t disagree with him and couldn’t walk away was preferable to the real woman he claimed to love.
He could recreate her face perfectly, but he couldn’t manufacture genuine love. And the most disturbing part? Somewhere along the way, Matt convinced himself that this was still love. 💀
