I am recruiting a PhD student to join my group at the University of Cambridge, starting in October 2027.
The position is funded by my ERC Starting Grant QUANTEX and will explore how extreme pressure changes electronic structure, chemical bonding, and chemical periodicity, using ab initio methods, crystal structure prediction, and machine learning.
I am looking for applicants interested in theoretical chemistry, condensed matter physics, and computational materials science, with a strong interest in theoretical and solid-state chemistry.

Call for Applications: FOR-GHP Fellowship in Outbreak Readiness
Public health professionals in sub-Saharan Africa can now apply for the Fellowship in Outbreak Readiness for Global Health Protection (FOR-GHP)โa 1.5-year capacity-building programme focused on strengthening outbreak preparedness, health emergency response and the One Health approach.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Health through the Global Health Protection Programme, FOR-GHP is delivered by a consortium including AFENET, the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM), the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), and Swiss TPH.
๐ What the programme offers:
โข Three face-to-face workshops in Hamburg, Accra and Kampala
โข E-learning and remote support
โข Certificate and 10 ECTS credits from the University of Basel
โข Travel, visa and accommodation support for the three workshops
โข Access to an active alumni network

Who can apply?
Public health professionals who:
โข Are nationals of a sub-Saharan African country and work there in the public health sector
โข Have at least two yearsโ experience in public health or biomedical fields
โข Hold a relevant qualification in public health, medicine, epidemiology, microbiology, biology or a related discipline
โข Have employer authorisation to participate in all three workshops
โข Have a good command of English and access to a computer, stable internet and a working microphone
