The trick to getting kids reading again is the same as it ever was: cram every available surface of your home with books, limit their access to brain-destroying technology, wait for them to get bored and watch them flourish both spiritually and intellectually.

I said I would share this because it was important. The British Library have a padlet of their popular English resources. Something we missed as a result of their cyberattack. You can access them with these QR codes. @britishlibrary

What do teachers really know about the science of learning?
Over the last year, I have been gathering data from teachers and school leaders to understand confidence levels in:
• Working memory
• Retrieval practice
• Metacognition
• Cognitive science
• Neuroeducation
The findings reveal something interesting:
Teachers are generally confident in their own classroom practice.
However, many believe their institutions struggle to apply these ideas consistently across departments and subjects.
Is the challenge teacher knowledge, or implementation?

Just read about the No More Marking AI experiment and much as I love @daisychristo’s work on loads of things, I really, really don’t like it. I found the feedback gave me deep uncanny valley feelings that I just can’t shake. AI marking for English is definitely not for me. 1/2
