I want to extend my warmest and most urgent congratulations to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his monumental and deeply important victory in Brazil. This election was not just a win for the people of Brazil, but a historic triumph for the working class, marginalized-
not just across Latin America, but globally.
We must build a unified, progressive movement capable of delivering real economic justice, protecting human rights, and standing as a bulwark against the threat of fascist consolidation. From the state house in Rhode Island to the-

This is what I’m literally doing every day. Negotiating and fighting with Rhode Island Energy on behalf of constituents and all Rhode Island residents. We have serious work to do when we get back into the general assembly in January. This is not sustainable. Utilities are-
Having breakfast and catching up with my favorite union OG Paul from teamsters. We spoke about workers protections and legislation for the upcoming legislative session in the Rhode Island general assembly.
Today, I joined Mayor-Elect David Morales of Providence for campaigning and we also spoke and listened to our small business community. I will work hard at the state level alongside the city government to make sure we help all Rhode Islanders. @DavidMoralesPVD

Weak statement. Helena is a corporate drug dealer. DOJ must stop perpetuating two-tier justice: corporate wrongdoers pay fines; street dealers do time. Equal justice and the American Dream are empty promises. We must restore both to save our country.
Replying to @GuckianRI
@GuckianRI statement in wake of $315M CVS settlement: "Helena Foulkes was president of CVS Pharmacy during part of this period. I believe it's fair to ask what she knew, what safeguards were in place and what was being done to protect patients. This has become a five-alarm fire."
Everything is gonna be alright.
Take a deep breath and relax everyone.
UPDATE: Providence Police Union President Michael Imondi told me today he had a sit-down with David Morales that went "better than expected."
He says he's "cautiously optimistic" about the mayoral frontrunner's plans regarding police.

More corporate criminals paying fines instead of doing time. We cannot have one system of justice for corporate executives and another for everyone else.
Replying to @BankofAmerica
@BankofAmerica was fined $1.2 billion today for failing to report more than $5 billion in suspicious transactions.
The @USTreasury says some of that money was linked to Chinese laundering networks, fraud, and activity at the southwest border. Separately, 475 apparent sanctions violations touching Russia, Iran, narcotics, and global terrorism. The bank admitted it willfully violated the Bank Secrecy Act.
Here is the line in the story nobody will quote: not one individual was charged.
I have watched this exact movie before. In 2012 I was inside @HSBC when it paid $1.9 billion for moving money for cartels and sanctioned regimes. The fine was roughly five weeks of profit. No banker went to prison. The industry took the lesson it was offered, which was that the penalty for letting dirty money through is a line item.
Fourteen years and tens of billions in fines later, the Treasury Secretary says this sends "a clear message that even the biggest financial institutions are not above the law."
The institution is not above the law. The people inside it are. That is the whole problem.
A bank cannot go to prison. A bank cannot lose its freedom, its reputation, or its kids' respect. The only thing a fine does to a bank is reduce next quarter's number, and @BankofAmerica reports earnings tomorrow. Watch how little the stock cares.
Every one of those unreported transactions passed through a person. Somebody set the thresholds. Somebody saw the alert volume and chose not to staff for it. Somebody read the 2024 cease and desist and decided the fix could wait. Until those people face something personal, the next $1.2 billion is already priced in.
To the compliance officers at @BankofAmerica who flagged what they saw and were told to find a way: I know exactly where you are sitting. You are not the ones who should be nervous tonight.
We do not need another record fine. We need a banker in handcuffs.

Flock cameras are no good. They violate individual’s rights and set a presedent for a surveillance state.
NEW: As the deadline looms to renew Providence's contract with Flock, the City Council is exploring a ban on automated license plate readers from being used across the city.
