Tractor Trailer Collision and Highway Closure: #BurlingtonOPP are investigating after a tractor trailer carrying steel, travelling northbound on #Hwy6 near Conc 12E, struck a construction barrier blocking the northbound lanes. The TT then crossed all lanes striking the barrier on the other side of the highway resulting in a diesel spill into the ditch and a full closure of #Hwy6 in both directions. The collision occurred at 3:37 a.m. and was in an area of lane reductions (1 northbound, 2 southbound) due to ongoing highway maintenance. The closure is expected to last until approximately 10 a.m. Charges are pending. No injuries. No other vehicles involved. I’d like to thank MP @HonAhmedHussen for co-sponsoring this bill with me and for his counsel. I hope that all MPs will support this legislation. Canada is home to many Canadians of Somali heritage. Canadians of Somali descent have left and continue to leave a historic mark on Canada, with contributions that span communities across the country and are reflected in Canada’s economic, political, social and cultural life. If passed, Somali heritage month would give us an opportunity to celebrate that heritage, the role that Canada has played in supporting Somali Canadians and their contributions to Canada.
