Welp. Got the worst student evaluations I've ever gotten this semester. Don't know whether to blame it on Covid or just me. Anybody else have a similar experience?

Today I'm thankful for the little voice in my head that told me I didn't need to walk all the way across campus to buy chocolate milk because when I get home I'll need to only walk across the kitchen to get the root beer waiting for me in the fridge. A true win-win. #givethanks

I'm thankful that it's possible to be a person of both science and faith. #givethanks

I just taught my 14-year-old daughter how to do something on her phone, and I think I can retire now. My work is done.

I'm grateful for this lady, for the freedom to be myself with her, and that she likes me in spite of the shenanigans #givethanks

My whole life I've been a pusher-througher. If there's a wall, I try to break through it. But something I'm learning from this pandemic is that it's okay to take breaks, to take time to think things through, and to not finish my daily to-do list. And I feel better as a result.

On a happier note, I'm happy to announce that after 7 years, I can now park in the parking lot next to the building I work in. According to mapmywalk, that will save me about .08 miles of walking every trip to/from my car.

I try to not criticize. But Skip Bayless' comments about mental health are ignorant and dangerous. It's comments like these that perpetuate stigma and keep people from opening up about their struggles. Mental illness is no joke, and toxic masculinity does not help.

Asked our 10-year old how school was yesterday with having to wear a mask all day. "It was no big deal," she said. Meanwhile, I get bothered by my mask just walking from my office to the bathroom. I'm amazed at the resilience of children.

You know how we can't understand the adults in Peanuts? They're always just "wah, wah, wah"? I finally get it now. They were all just wearing masks.

In other news, I guess Michigan won't lose to Ohio State in football again this year.

Our new study provides a bit of insight on whether or not social media use is related to mental health problems. What we found: there isn't a direct relationship between the two, but there may be an indirect relationship: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

There has been a lot of talk lately about screentime. Out today is a new episode of BBC's #Parentland podcast featuring @Livingstone_S and myself discussing screentime. My bit starts at 24:11. What are your thoughts about screentime? bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0787vc…

Wrapping up 2 great days of teaching media literacy classes to a fun and engaging group of students at Universidad Panamericana in Guadalajara, Mexico! They were great hosts, their English is amazing, and their desire to learn admirable. The future of Mexico is in good hands!
