Although I might dock their score a li’l for having a Curt Cignetti quote on their wall….
Gateway Subs across the tiny bridge from St. Pete Beach:
Sandwich score: 8.0/10 for their Ultimate Italian. Good, fresh bread, fresh ingredients. I still love Firehouse’s flavor best, though. For me that’s the 10.0/10.0 standard.
Overall score: 8.7/10.0 because the view outside is wonderful, and the AC plus cleanliness inside are damn near a 10.0.
Fun, easy, quaint local joint to check out.
Next time I’ll try a different sub and see what I think. (Plus take a pic before I dominate the entire sandwich! Lol.)

Hobbyist cooking tip:
The mobile app, Recipe Keeper, is a good tool. I am thinking about making French Onion Soup one evening this week and needed to remember the recipe I used last time, about 2 years ago.
I found the link to the site with the recipe I’d used… and Recipe Keeper allowed me to super quickly import the entire list of ingredients AND instructions into the app in about 2 clicks! So much easier than manually entering what is a pretty extensive set of information.
Most recipe sites are soooo overladen with ads, it’s way too cumbersome trying to cook from those. This app solves all of that.
Specifically, get it doused in their hot honey sauce! Oh-Em-Gee, it is the best sandwich you’ll ever put in your mouth!
See, photos can lie too, just like words.
Looking at this shot tonight over SPB, you’d never guess the wind was whipping behind my back, blowing sand everywhere!
Yesterday morning, driving by an early voting precinct in Clearwater, I saw a spot of grass with at least 100 yard signs for various candidates.
Plus a couple of folks holding candidates’ signs up, to passers by.
It made me think… and then very late last night I read this post…
Why is our system SOOOOO brain dead that campaigns think yard signs actually do anything?
(And IF they did accomplish something, I’d argue that would be EVEN WORSE, because a yard sign says NOTHING about any actual issues whatsoever.)
Then I kept going down my rabbit hole… why do people even think it’s “good” to try and convince someone else which politician to vote for?
You should have YOUR OWN thoughts based upon YOUR OWN logic, research, experiences and values.
As should I. Why on god’s green earth should I vote for a candidate because you are displaying a yard sign???
The whole thing is complete junk. It reminds of those insurance commercials we see. WHO would choose to buy insurance from an emu parachuting down from the sky, crashing into an RV???
Or from “liberty biberty”???
What are we even doing as a human species???? I’ve zero idea.

Milwaukee as a town is highly underrated. Wisconsin as a state, too, based on my visits.
Enjoy, Mr. Soul!

So... I stand insanely corrected on this, thanks to some good feedback.
I had no idea Wyoming was our nation's #1 coal producing state, outputting nearly 40% of American coal. Growing up in KY, I thought most of it came from the Appalachian area, but apparently only 27% from the entire region does.
The all-black uniforms worn by the Cowboys Friday night were a tribute to and collaboration with the Wyoming Mining Association, honoring all of their heritage and families.
Kudos to them. Huge kudos.
And shame on me for not researching before yakking my big mouth.
Dear Wyoming Football:
(Dear EVERY football program, for that matter:)
You do NOT have to be like errrrrrrr’ybody else and go all-black with your unis. Wyoming, you are famous for your yellow and brown cowboy, you have zero black in your color scheme at all.
Be yourself! You don’t need to mimic everyone else.
The CFB world probably shouldn’t forget about Virginia Tech. 6-2 under Franklin so far with a win over Dabo in Death Valley last night.
The Hokies have SMU next, then a chance at Miami in about a month to see if they can sneak up into the ACC Championship game.
Their two losses to Cal and Pitt still sting. I wonder if they played again, if the Hokies would be 8-0.
I watch a lot of the games, at least portions of most of the games, and this ranking business is tough sledding.
Welcoming Arizona into my Top 25 this week. Put Minnesota in over Houston, Cincinnati and SMU because I think their two big wins are better than most, even though they got hammered by the Boilermakers recently.
Also: what my Buckeyes are with QB2 and/or QB3 at the helm is anyone's guess, but thus far they have the best win of the season in Bloomington.
Ole Miss has tied it up
Kentucky headed for 7-1 and a Top 10 ranking from the AP
Wisconsin joining Iowa and Minnesota in the old B1G West at 5-2
