Started school yesterday! Looked different, but felt similar. Lots of smiling new faces to greet😀Excited to spend time with students again today!
Wondering if there are any good podcasts out there for middle school students about Civics or ancient History?
Right back at it after break! Students using maps to make predictions about how geography impacted the ancient Greeks. Loved hearing their ideas!
Students using vocabulary hexagons to create a map of geography terms. They were so busy discussing ideas with one another; great energy in classes today!

First day of school! Love the excitement from teachers and students! I thought the quote was a great way to start off the day, especially since 6th graders have all the feelings today.
Bringing history and science to life today! Students got to take part in a presentation from a falconer as an activity to enhance their studies of the Middle Ages.
Started Ancient Greece with KWL chart and students are filling in the L (what we learned) at the end of each week. Great review and chance to see where students are at!
Students selecting questions to dive deeper on the Fertile Crescent. This was step 2 of our inquiry into these ancient civilizations. Excited to see what they find out!

Day 5: with only a few days left of the school, we explore current issues in the Middle East. My goal is for students to have choice in what they learn about and make connections with past units from the year. #TeachBetter
Day 4: I show students I am there for them by taking the time to get to know them and by establishing a culture of respect in my classroom. We are a team and in this together! #TeachBetter
Day 3: students have the choice of how to respond to prompts. They love that there isn’t a ‘right’ answer - they just need to support their claim with evidence. One of many reasons why I love teaching history! #TeachBetter
Day 2: I want to implement some different discussion techniques in my classes to give students additional opportunities to share their thoughts and make sure everyone has a voice. #TeachBetter @thegridmethod
