❓ What connects the ESIRA and @RustikHEU projects?
👉 Both projects focus on rural areas and the opportunities to make them more resilient, inclusive and attractive places to live and work.
While ESIRA explores how social innovation can address rural challenges and strengthen local communities, RUSTIK uses research, data and local knowledge to better understand rural needs and support place-sensitive solutions.

👉 The Sixth General Assembly of the ESIRA project brought partners together in Italy 🇮🇹 to review project progress, exchange experiences and plan the next steps.

🏡 Alongside the meeting sessions, participants explored local social innovation initiatives, including social cooperatives, renewable energy communities, cultural and rural initiatives, and projects supporting social inclusion and community participation.
🔎 The study visits offered an opportunity to see how local communities are developing practical solutions around social inclusion, sustainability, cooperation and rural development.

🏡 What can local traditions, rural knowledge and community ideas inspire?
During September, ESIRA MAP members in Druskininkai, Lithuania, explored this question through a new social innovation developed at Augai Farm: “A Day in the Countryside”.

🌱 ESIRA is connecting with ESEM – European Social Enterprise Monitor, a project working to better understand and communicate the needs and interests of social and solidarity economy enterprises across Europe.

🌱 The Community-based Cooperatives Festival in Abruzzo, held at the beginning of September, brought together community cooperatives, local communities, institutions and organisations to exchange experiences on community-led initiatives and rural development.
The festival was organised by Borghiin and hosted by cooperatives from Goriano Valli and Castelvecchio Subequo, members of the local MAP.
🤝ESIRA was presented by Euricse researcher focusing on how community cooperatives work together to develop initiatives based on local needs.
The event also included a EURICSE monitoring visit and discussions on the development of ESIRA initiatives.

🤝 We are glad to welcome @SOILSCAPE_EU as a new sister project in the ESIRA network!
🌱 @SOILSCAPE_EU brings together artists, civil society organisations, soil scientists and decision-makers to promote soil preservation through creative and participatory approaches.
Like @Esira_Project, it puts local communities, multi-actor collaboration and knowledge exchange at the centre of its work.
🏡 The @Esira_Project supports social innovation initiatives that help make rural areas more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
👉 One of these initiatives is @costa_oxigeno an upcoming sustainable and accessible tourism project in the Pinares region.
Designed to provide an inclusive tourism experience, it will offer accommodation adapted for people with physical disabilities, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the unique natural and cultural heritage of the area.
🌍 @costa_oxigeno is a great example of how innovation can create new opportunities for rural development while promoting accessibility, sustainability, and social inclusion.
🌍 The Norwegian ESIRA team participated in the Norwegian-Swedish cross-border event Grensedagarna BRIDGE at Morokulien, presenting ESIRA’s mission and ongoing pilot activities in the Kongsvinger region, focused on social innovation and inclusion.
