Patrick Beverley says the Clippers lowballed him so he chose Minnesota for $13,000,000 only to eliminate them, before claiming he changed the Wolves’ culture “Minnesota gave me an extension of $13 million… I don’t think people understand this, that starting five we had was arguably the best starting five in the NBA that year.” “Me, D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Jarred Vanderbilt, Karl-Anthony Towns. They saw what I’ve been trying to show people, what I do for organizations, I give them a little juice. A little shot in the arm.” “And this is the first play-in game damn near ever, we play against the Clippers. And if we win, Minnesota gets into the playoffs after 16 years. Jimmy Butler has been there. Derrick Rose. Jeff Teague, All-star caliber type players.” “And Minnesota’s never been there. Then you inject Pat Bev in there.” “I was able to play all my old teammates that I was literally just in the Western Conference Finals with the year before. I get to see the owner at the baseline. I get to see Reggie Jackson, a guy who they kept more than me. And I get to see them being eliminated and not make the playoffs.” “I made a promise to everybody in Minnesota when I first got there that we were going to make the playoffs… My emotions were overwhelming. I had family there. I really put on for the city of Minnesota.” “And I don’t know if people know this but they haven’t missed the playoffs since I got there. Two Western Conference Finals. They have not missed the playoffs. I’m not saying it’s all me, but I started something in Minnesota for sure.”
