It puzzles me why this is not much more politicised.

Highest in the world!
It takes some head
-in-the-sand to think data centres are not driving up household electricity prices.
Data centres run by four US tech giants are now consuming a fifth of Ireland’s total electricity, a Business Post analysis reveals.

Pope Leo XIV reaffirms the church's opposition to the death penalty.
The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

In an age dominated by technology, in which efficiency and profit often take precedence, it is so important that we continue to cultivate a spirit of contemplation and allow time and space for beauty. Such an attitude will greatly help humanity, especially young people, to discover the ability of art to uplift and reveal the depths of the human spirit and our openness to the divine. Contemplation presents a marvelous opportunity to encounter the God who is Beauty.

I've never understood how I'll get “left behind” if I don't use AI. I'm fully capable of writing, researching, thinking critically, and solving problems on my own. What exactly does it do that's so special that it'll leave me behind?

The Irish Budget 2027 will result in household disposable incomes rising most for those that need it most. Those on lowest incomes will benefit to a proportionally greater extent. It's a progressive budget that will reduce income inequality and that's worth acknowledging. 🇮🇪👍

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

So much for all together as a group 🤷♂️ 1 player with integrity and conviction has been thrown under the bus by the squad and FAI. He can hold his head high for the rest of his life. David Courell talking about 'both sides' says it all. Shame on all who participate #StopTheGame

UNPOPULAR OPINION: a lot of anxiety and depression disappear when the bills are paid, the rent is secured and the fridge is full. Pretending that money doesn’t affect mental health is a privilege.
