Får återkoppling av elev på utvecklingssamtalet, jag tycker högläsning är så kul och bra och viktigt. Det verkar som om min entusiasm smittar av sig.

Reminds me of what the late Richard DuFour used to say. "Don't tell me you believe that all students can succeed. Tell me what you do when they don't."

Public service announcement: Do not use the term "zone of proximal development" unless—like Vygotsky—you are making a distinction between development and learning. Otherwise, it's just stuff the student doesn't know how to do yet, but is within reach; i.e., good teaching.

Again and again, a rigorous new 2026 study definitively busts the "learning styles" myth, proving that multimodal instruction works best for everyone regardless of their supposed learning style. To finally kill this persistent neuromyth, we urgently need to prioritize cognitive science literacy in teacher training programs. psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?d…

Lowering behavioural standards leads to worse outcomes for students, higher absence, and increased staff turnover. As night follows day.
In Los Angeles reductions in suspension rates were followed by decreased GPAs & test scores and increased student absences and teacher turnover particularly for inexperienced teachers. That said there were small achievement gains for at-risk students: bit.ly/4bdK0ni ($)

Somewhere E.D. Hirsch Jr. says, “I told you so.”
Natalie Wexler argues social studies boosts literacy: more social studies time raises reading scores (unlike extra reading time), especially for low-income kids, by building knowledge/vocabulary. Louisiana, Massachusetts, Kentucky created state curricula; Delaware pilots "Literacy for We the People," pairing civics/history with writing/speaking skills via simulated hearings. nataliewexler.substack.com/p…

We Need a Revolution in Professional Learning   "For many teachers, school leaders and college leaders, professional learning is still far from what it could be. It is often treated as an extra thing: fitted into INSET days, twilight sessions, one-off workshops, or whatever time remains after the urgent business of school and college life has taken its share. It is too often generic, episodic, weakly connected to teachers’ real work, and rarely evaluated in ways that tell us whether it has changed teacher expertise, classroom practice or student learning. That should trouble us...." In this new paper by Professors @ProfKime and @ProfCoe they make the case for a different approach: one that protects time, builds expertise and looks carefully at whether professional learning is improving practice.
