My new adjective focused plan when designing practice themes... A @TheErinBrown approved fall training non-spike sprint day.... And.... An @TheErinBrown unapproved fall training spiked sprint day.... Varying levels of opinions can come together for strong practice based themes 😂😂😂 #Progress

Imagine if I let what people on the internet say change who I am, how I coach, or what I’m building. I’d be letting people who don’t know me or the plan, dictate my direction. No thanks. Stay true to yourself. Keep working. Keep building. #StayTheCourse #KeepBuilding

Approximately 1.9% of high school boys and 2.8 % of high school girls go on to compete at the Division I level in track & field. If you get the opportunity, take full advantage of it. Work, learn, compete, and enjoy it. You’re doing something very few get to do.

If you’re using AI to make images, tell it to act as a creative director. Don’t just tell it what to make. Tell it to make the image look like a real photo, with natural lighting and realistic colors. A lot of AI images look the same. Make yours look like it’s not made by AI.

What matters more at the college level? A GREAT athlete with a good coach… or a good athlete with a GREAT coach? At what point does coaching outweigh talent?

What it takes to qualify for NCAA 1st Round keeps getting faster. Most high school athletes are not entering college already with marks in the top 48 East or West. That means development is happening once they get to college. Recruiting matters, but so does what happens after.

Here’s a look into the recruiting decisions college coaches are making. Here’s a roster. You have room to add 3 women and 2 men for sprints and hurdles with 1.5 scholarships on each side for these spots. Which SRs do you want to stay? What events and times are you recruiting?

Development doesn’t mean recruiting below the level I’m capable of recruiting just to prove I can develop. Coaching is taking the best talent I can recruit and making them better. My job isn’t to prove I can turn any athlete into a star. It’s to build the best team possible.

Roster limits have changed how I recruit. A few years ago, I could take more chances on athletes. Now every spot matters. If I can only carry 3 athletes in an event, I have to recruit closer to the level we need to win. Development still matters, but there are fewer opportunities

Here’s what the transfer portal has done for coaches: I can swing for the fences recruiting the very best high school athletes. If I don’t land them, I know after the season I can go to the portal and sign someone just as good or better. The portal has become the safety net.

I hear this a lot, “College coaches don’t want to develop athletes.” Development isn’t simply taking a 10.8 guy to 10.3 or a 12.2 girl to 11.6 It’s identifying athletes I believe have the potential to develop into what my team needs to win conference and compete in Division 1
