THE WHITE HOUSE FROM 1792 TO THE BALLROOM
The President shared a video tracing the White House from its 1792 cornerstone through the British burning it in 1814 and Truman gutting and rebuilding it, ending with a look at his finished ballroom. It’s the biggest change to the building since the East Wing went up in 1942, and it’s set to open in 2028.
THE PROFESSORS BEHIND CALIFORNIA’S BILLIONAIRE TAX
Four law and economics professors drafted Prop. 40, a one-time 5 percent tax on the net worth of anyone worth over $1 billion who lived in California on January 1. A health care workers’ union put it on the ballot. Even Governor Newsom opposes it, and Larry Page, Sergey Brin and Peter Thiel left the state before the deadline. A PPIC poll has it losing 52 to 46.
Four professors wrote a tax that none of them will ever have to pay: Berkeley economist Emmanuel Saez, Berkeley law professor Brian Galle, UC Davis law professor Darien Shanske and University of Missouri law professor David Gamage.
The BBC put her on live television and apologized after it aired. That habit is why fewer Britons pay the license fee every year.
The BBC has admitted it should not have invited an influencer who has been accused in the past of making remarks that were anti-Semitic and in support of the Iranian regime to be a guest on a live television show.

DERSHOWITZ ON OMAR
Even Alan Dershowitz says Omar’s case is still open. If her citizenship falls, her House seat falls with it.
DERSHOWITZ PREDICTS EXIT: Alan Dershowitz told NEWSMAX that Rep. Ilhan Omar could still face criminal prosecution over a previous marriage that federal investigators examined in 2016 and predicted she will ultimately have to resign or be barred from the House.
Dershowitz spoke on "The Record With Greta Van Susteren" after a report said that the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security found some evidence of fraud during a 2016 investigation into Omar's 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.
"This is not a simple crime. This is a complex and potentially continuing crime," Dershowitz said.
"So I think it's still an open, possible open case for criminal prosecution, for denaturalization, for deportation, all of those."
PUTIN SILENCES NOVAYA GAZETA
Novaya Gazeta, Russia’s last major independent newspaper, is shutting down after 33 years. It was evicted from its Moscow office, its donations were cut off and its editors were arrested, and six of its journalists have been murdered since Putin took power.
Putin has wanted this paper gone for years, and he finally found a way to do it.
ELON MUSK’S $440 MILLION MIDTERM
Elon Musk has given more than $440 million to Republican groups this cycle, and CNN calls him the largest disclosed donor in modern American politics. The biggest check was $158 million to the Senate Republicans’ super PAC, which passed it on to a Texas PAC backing Ken Paxton. Musk added another $76.8 million in the first two weeks of October.
TRUMP: ECONOMY GREW 3.4% LAST QUARTER
The President says the 3.4% growth, beating most forecasts, shows his economy is working and that Democrats would wreck it if they win Tuesday. Consumer spending rose 3.8%, and business investment jumped 12.7%.
ONE MILLION BARRELS OF VENEZUELAN OIL ARRIVE IN TEXAS
The President says the first million barrels of Venezuelan oil are reaching Texas at no cost to taxpayers, with billions more to come. He says gas and diesel prices are about to fall.
FLOODWATERS SWEEP CARS AWAY IN CIUDAD JUÁREZ
Visegrád 24 reports a major flood hit Ciudad Juárez, the Mexican border city across from El Paso, and the video shows water filling whole neighborhoods and carrying cars down the street. Juárez sits in the desert, where hard rain has nowhere to soak in and runs straight into the streets.
Nobody expects a flood like this in the desert.
A SECOND GRADER’S WISH COMES TRUE
A second grader in Greensboro, North Carolina, rubbed a “genie lamp” in class and wished for her mom, who was serving overseas, to come home. Moments later her mother walked through the door in uniform. The little girl ran to her in tears and said, “I missed you so much.”
After a day full of bad news, this one is worth watching. The families at home wait just as long as the ones who serve.
DERSHOWITZ SAYS OMAR WILL RESIGN
With all due respect, Mr. Dershowitz, she just hired Biden’s personal lawyer and is on the ballot in eleven days. She will stay in Congress until they drag her out, just to spite everybody.
Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz predicted on NEWSMAX that Rep. Ilhan Omar will resign from Congress. He said mounting questions about her identity and immigration history could cost her citizenship if they are proved.
"I think she will resign from Congress," Dershowitz said on "The Record With Greta Van Susteren."
"I don't think that she's going to want to see congressional investigations."
GOOGLE CLEARS THE FOREST FIRST, PAPERWORK LATER
Finland’s licensing authority ordered Google’s subsidiary to stop all preparatory work at two data center sites, in Muhos and Kajaani, until the required environmental reviews are done. The Guardian estimates about 250,000 trees were already cleared at Muhos. The sites are part of a €13 billion AI buildout Google called its largest single investment in Europe. Google hasn’t commented.
A company spending $15 billion can afford to wait for the paperwork.
STRANGERS CATCH A MAN HANGING OVER I-5
A moving truck hit a sedan on I-5 near Mission Hills in San Diego Tuesday morning, smashed through the center divider and caught fire, leaving its cab hanging over the southbound lanes. Strangers stretched out a blanket below while a man climbed out and let go. Four people from the car were hospitalized, and both men from the truck refused care.
Strangers saw a man hanging over a freeway and ran toward him with a blanket. Good people still show up.
IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON
Iran has killed thousands of its own protesters, and a regime that does that to its own people can never be trusted with a nuclear weapon.
THE PRESIDENT SAYS OMAR MUST RESIGN
The President says Omar used a fake name to be sworn in and must resign immediately. If Pirro proves that name in court, Omar is finished, but until then she keeps her seat.
HOW THE AL-AWLAKI PASSPORT CASE COULD APPLY TO ILHAN OMAR
Catherine Herridge lays out how the passport case against Anwar al-Awlaki could apply to Ilhan Omar. His 1990 student visa form lists his birthplace as Yemen, though he was born in New Mexico. That lie led to a Social Security number and a U.S. passport, and every use of that passport reset the ten year clock. Agents reportedly seized Omar’s passport this month, and investigators are reportedly looking at her name and birth year. She has not been charged.
If either one is false, her passport becomes the case, the same way Awlaki’s did.
INCHES FROM DEATH AND SHE WALKED AWAY UNSCATHED
Half a step faster or half a step slower, and she doesn’t walk away from this. She was in the one spot on that sidewalk where neither car could reach her. Most people never find out how close they came. She saw it happen inches from her face, and she gets to go home.
THE STUDENT PROTESTS SPREAD TO GREECE
About 10,000 students and teachers marched in Athens yesterday, with rallies in other cities too, demanding more school money and better teacher pay. Greece’s Communist Youth helped lead it, chanting “From Greece to France.” The same youth-driven wave has hit France, Italy and Albania this month. Athens stayed peaceful.
The far left is organizing across Europe, and school funding is the cover.
PARIS LOOTERS SHOW OFF THEIR HAUL ONLINE
Masked looters are posting videos on TikTok and X, pulling stolen goods out of bags and bragging about beating riot police. “We tore it all up,” one said. More than 2,000 shops were hit across France, with damage in the hundreds of millions of euros. Investigators are now combing social media and resale sites to trace the stolen goods.
These were thieves using a protest as cover. Now they’re posting the evidence themselves.
THE WHITE HOUSE BALLROOM IS GOING UP
The President flew over the new East Wing on Marine One, and the outer walls are now going up over the frame. Underneath is a military complex five stories deep that replaces the World War II-era bunker, with bomb shelters, a medical area, biodefense and secure communications. The ballroom above will seat 650 to more than 1,000 guests. Crews have been working 20 hours a day.
At this rate, I suspect the President will be coming in under schedule.
