This is one of the main reason why pumpfun is so popular because it captures value from participants trying to be early at all cost
Crypto's real product for the last decade has been "being early." @cobie spotted it in 2022. We industrialized it across DeFi, NFTs, airdrops, memecoins. Wrote about what happens when you run out of people willing to be late. xitter.cf/SabretoothSG/status/20…

We analyzed 125 token launches and spoke with 25+ founders to learn why 85% of tokens launched in 2025 ended the year negative. Only 9.4% of tokens that declined in their first week ever recovered. What drove Week 1 relied on decisions founders often overlooked. The guide covers the decisions that actually mattered, how to model them, and a framework for keeping your token out of the 85%. 👉 Read the Practical Guide to TGE: arrakis.finance/tge-guide

A whole bunch of crypto accounts talking about Silver today. Perfect case study in "show me the incentives, i'll show you the outcome". X algo nerfed CT reach → some accounts abandoned crypto entirely, others pivoted to hijacking macro/political trends just to survive the feed. cough, cough, @AutismCapital @adamscochran X algo killed CT culture.
Almost looks like 10/10 in the crypto markets…

The Tax-Loss Harvesting narrative is partially true, but misses a key nuance: If US institutions sold ETFs in Dec, the wash sale rule blocks them from buying back for 30 days. They can't be back yet. These inflows are likely: 1. Fresh Q1 capital allocations (New Year, New Budget) 2. Investors selling Spot BTC (loophole: no wash sale rule) to rotate into ETFs. Smart money isn't just returning; it’s rotating.

Bitcoin ETFs see $750M in inflows, a sharp reversal from early January's $1.38B exodus, institutions back after wrapping up tax-loss harvesting. xitter.cf/coinbureau/status/2011…

Tokens pump 100x, then nuke 90% to reset the narrative. To normies, crypto looks like a permanent casino. For projects that want users beyond the usual onchain degen crowd, the answer isn’t less volatility but a new onchain asset class: real downside protection + real upside.

Late 90s, I was an equity derivatives quant at Salomon Brothers supporting the New York and Japanese desks. Japan’s market had gone nowhere for a decade. Rates near zero. Corporations couldn’t borrow — too debt-laden. Retail investors bleeding to inflation. We sold structured products to major banks. Knock-ins, knock-outs, range accruals to retail. Anything speculative that could attract capital. The complexity was our edge - if you could design something capital-efficient and hedge it, someone would buy. Looking at crypto now, it’s distorted déjà vu. Same fascination with complexity, different players and mechanics. In TradFi, the sell side takes its cut by hedging and largely avoids market manipulation. Here? The “house” is whoever controls order flow, token supply, or listing access. We tried to eliminate intermediaries - they just became the other side of the trade instead. Zero-sum game, but no rules. LPs getting wrecked by MEV. Token unlocks creating massive dilution disguised as “vesting” — selling pressure before markets can even form. Real projects that came on-chain to raise capital without intermediaries are starving for liquidity while money sloshes around elsewhere. It’s not just speculators or regulators. The market structure itself needs to change.

Worldcoin published their MM deal in 2023 and got absolutely destroyed for it. That deal wasn't even bad. Probably the best MM deal in crypto. Best one. And they got roasted for showing it. 100M $WLD loaned to 5 MMs. Two thirds of supply. Call option at $2-3 so MMs could dump then reload cheap. Everyone knew the game. Price pinned until Dec 15, option killed, then pumped. This was the CLEAN version. Tier 1 MMs. Public scrutiny. And it still looked like that. Nobody's published their MM deals since. Nobody. Group chat's full of founders who can't talk about their MM deals now. Just skull emojis when asked. I almost signed one in 2022. 15% of supply. Lawyer said I'd be better off just rugging it myself. At least I'd keep the money. Everyone learned the wrong lesson from Worldcoin. Hide your deal. Get fucked in private. The "good" deals are predatory. The bad ones are criminal. I'm tired of pretending this is normal.
