In 2026 I started a free newsletter called Galaxy Arbitrage. 20 weeks and 23 issues later, here's the honest story, including what didn't work.
WHERE IT CAME FROM
I've been finding loopholes my whole life. I got into web development in the late 90s because I couldn't afford the normal way in.
Later I traded stocks, options and crypto. I lost $300K. Bad timing, bad bets, no excuses. That loss taught me that the people who win aren't smarter.
They're positioned better: earning in strong markets, spending in cheap ones, using tools most people never go looking for.
THE IDEA
That's arbitrage in all its forms. Issue 0 went out June 9 to 309 people. Issue 1 laid out six kinds: geographic, currency, labor, information, health and time.
Issue 2 was on AI. I told readers to start with geographic, because everything else builds on it. I'm an American living in Cebu, so that's where I started.
THE LIST
I built it mostly with Meta ads aimed at expats in the Philippines, at about $0.25 per engaged reader, plus roughly 25% organic.
So most of my issues ended up being about living abroad, since that's who the list was built from.
By June 30 the list hit 1,221. Only 16.6% opened and 1 person clicked. So I cleaned it down to about 370. Today it's 427 subscribers.
WHAT I TRIED
Plain-text "casual" emails: 7.7% and 14.8% opens.
A "which type of expat founder are you" quiz: 19.0%.
Specific, practical topics (time zones, packing, healthcare costs, labor costs): 32 to 34%.
THE NUMBERS
About 31% open rate on the cleaned list.
58 unique clicks across 12,129 emails delivered.
$0 earned from the newsletter itself.
THE REAL LESSON
People read. They just didn't act. I was several steps ahead of my readers: most are still in 9-to-5 jobs, not ready to move.
My first paying client came in October, for consulting. They were business owners who needed help with lead gen and funnels, not relocation help.
THE MISTAKE
I DM'd 50+ new followers asking them to subscribe. My original account got suspended, probably because of it.
WHERE THIS GOES
Back to the full idea: researching economic gaps of every kind (location, remote work, labor, AI, business models) and testing which ones actually turn into income, in public.
I still don't know how many readers are American versus Filipino, so I'm asking them.
Free, weekly. Link on @GalaxyArb I'll post the real numbers every month, good or bad.
47 people will now get the weekly breakdown on geographic, AI, and remote work arbitrage.
Started with zero.
No audience. No following. Just a system.

Trading is one thing.
Having to sit in front of a screen for hours waiting for your setup is another.
I'm building software to separate the two.
Your feed can distort your perception of what progress looks like.
Someone claiming to make $200,000 in a trade is showing you one moment, not necessarily their overall financial situation.
You may not know:
✅ How much capital they started with.
✅ How much they previously lost.
✅ Whether the screenshot is authentic.
✅ Whether they are selling access to a group.
✅ Whether their results are reproducible.
✅ Whether they are making money from trading or from the audience attracted by their trading claims.
I'm done bro.. Fool me once Fool me twice...
Chatgpt got it right.. I gotta fix my algo before I can rebuild my bags. Starting with these rules. 👇🏽
