📌 Now published in the American Journal of Cardiovascular Drugs A new article led by @LuigiSpadafora and @paola_pastena investigates 1-year clinical outcomes in ST-elevation vs non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI vs NSTEMI), based on over 21,000 patients from the international PRAISE registry. 🔍 Background & Objective Although STEMI and NSTEMI differ in acute management, long-term prognostic distinctions remain debated. This study aimed to assess whether 1-year outcomes after discharge differ between the two, adjusting for clinical complexity and treatment. 📊 Main Findings NSTEMI patients were older, with more comorbidities, yet received less intensive pharmacological treatment. While reinfarction appeared more frequent in NSTEMI, this was not significant after multivariable adjustment or propensity score matching. No meaningful differences in death, bleeding, or composite outcomes were observed. ✅ Conclusion When optimally managed, patients with NSTEMI may achieve outcomes comparable to those with STEMI.
