Our Founder @Arun_Vinayak_S joins @PLidhoo of @autocarpro on Start to Scale to discuss Exponent Energy, opportunity in commercial mobility, and what it takes to build an energy company

Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) sounds clever on paper.
Using EVs as distributed energy storage for the electrical grid feels like an elegant idea. In practice, it probably won’t scale.
Why?
- Most EVs aren’t plugged in all the time.
You can’t depend on drawing power from assets that are constantly moving. This is especially true for commercial vehicles, but even passenger cars aren’t reliably connected when the grid needs them.
- Batteries for EVs and batteries for energy storage systems (ESS) optimize for different factors. ESS batteries are all about low cost and longevity, while EV batteries need to consider both those points but also energy density, high charge and discharge rates. The result is a higher cost per energy transaction versus ESS batteries.
That makes every energy transaction through an EV battery more expensive than through dedicated storage.
Decentralized storage absolutely has a role to play.
But V2G tries to use expensive, mobile batteries like cheap, stationary ones.
And that’s where the economics and logistics start to break.
What a night! 🎉
We had a blast bringing together some curious minds for an evening of deep tech, good conversations and great company.
Big thanks to the @corememory team & @ashleevance for doing this one with us!
Here’s to more of these!
This Independence Day, we celebrated with our customers, hoisting the flag and celebrating the spirit of a more independent India.
For us, that means working towards freedom from petroleum - building a future less dependent on imported oil and increasingly powered by clean, domestic electricity.
As India moves towards electrification at scale, we’re proud to be building the energy systems that can help make that future possible.
Happy Independence Day! 🇮🇳
A two-wheeler, a personal car and an intercity bus don't operate the same way. Their energy systems shouldn't either.

We had the privilege of meeting Honourable Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri @PiyushGoyal, updating him on how far Exponent has come since our last conversation.
Electrifying India's commercial fleet isn't just about sustainability, it's about energy security and economic resilience. Every commercial vehicle electrified is a step toward reducing India's crude import dependency.
The only way this transition happens at scale is if electric becomes the better choice. Rapid. Reliable. Affordable.
As global leaders in commercial vehicle platforms, we're building the energy ecosystem that makes this possible - in India and from India, for the world.
Grateful to @BharatInnov2026 for giving us the platform to tell our story globally!

Every extra km matters for a commercial EV driver.
More trips. More hours. Better earnings.
Our systems enabled 84% Depth of Discharge.
Today: 90% - ~7% more range from the same battery.
What makes that possible is system intelligence.
Over 1.5M charging sessions later, the algorithm has learned and adapted - improving how energy is delivered in real-world use.
While performance typically declines over time, ours is designed to improve.
More from every charge. More from every day.
