Trump eases sanctions on Russia and begins buying Russian diesel. Days later, Musk restricts Starlink service in Ukraine, disrupting its military operations and its ability to defend itself.   And now we’re learning directly from Putin that Russia has been in contact with Musk.   How on earth did we get to this point? How is it possible that Musk can disrupt an American ally’s military operations whenever he chooses, maintain a clear line to the Kremlin, and face zero accountability to the American people or the U.S. government?   I want to know what Musk has been discussing with Russian officials, whether those conversations had anything to do with the Starlink disruptions, and what the Trump Administration knew.
Yesterday, Putin revealed that Russian authorities are "in close touch" with Elon Musk about the technology Ukraine needs to defend itself. Our new report @TheAtlantic investigates how @elonmusk went from supporting Ukraine to coordinating with Moscow. theatlantic.com/national-sec…

In 1982 Argentina put 10,000 men on islands carrying 600,000 sheep, and let them starve. The conscripts were 18 and 19, boys from the warm north of the country, flown onto the Falklands in April with summer kit for a winter at 51 degrees south. The supply system was a shambles. Food sat in Stanley while the men in the hills got a tin between two and sometimes nothing for days. They dug holes in the peat and the holes filled with water. Trench foot. Dysentery. Weights falling by the week. All around them was the oldest larder in the South Atlantic. The Falklands run on sheep. There is one for every two people in Argentina, and they were standing in the field next to the trench. The boys were not allowed to touch them. A conscript caught killing a sheep, or stealing a biscuit from the stores, was staked out: hands and feet tied, laid face down on the wet ground in the wind for hours. Veterans have described men tortured because we were starving and tried to grab some cookies or to butcher a sheep. Others were put in holes in the freezing peat as punishment. Officers ate. Then the British landed, and the men who had come 8,000 miles by sea did what any soldier in a sheep country does. They shot mutton and roasted it. Falklanders drove meat out to the positions. The paras went up Longdon and Tumbledown fed. Argentina's own army inquiry afterwards blamed the failures of food on the collapse of its men, and the staking of conscripts went to trial as a crime against humanity. An army sitting in a field of meat was ordered not to eat it, and the one that came from the other side of the world ate its way across the islands.

Britain’s mobile phone network is really unfit for purpose. Particularly when doing what a MOBILE network is supposed to do — moving! I’m on @EE which is supposed to have the best coverage in U.K. - it’s awful! This isn’t an inherent problem with 5G. Other countries have deployed the same technology far more successfully. Opensignal ranks Britain LAST among 29 European markets for mobile network performance. Denmark achieves 226 Mbps average download speeds against Britain’s 84 Mbps. So what went wrong? 5G typically uses higher frequencies than legacy networks, with shorter effective range and poorer penetration into buildings and vehicles. Reliable coverage therefore requires sufficient mast density, capacity and overlapping cells to maintain connectivity during handovers. Britain hasn’t invested adequately in that infrastructure. Much of our 5G still depends on 4G architecture, while the closure of 3G has removed a legacy fallback. Add network congestion, patchy rural coverage and unreliable handovers, and the result is familiar: phones displaying 5G but unable to transfer data, connections disappearing on motorways and trains, and calls dropping mid-conversation. And where is @Ofcom? It proudly reports 99%+ outdoor 4G premises coverage. But that figure is based on predicted signal strength, NOT independently verified, continuous connectivity. Indeed, Ofcom’s own figures show that only 84% of UK landmass has predicted good 4G coverage from all operators. A signal at a stationary address is not the same as a usable connection travelling at 70 mph. Ofcom has overseen the transition to 5G and the retirement of 3G without ensuring that network resilience, capacity and reliable handovers meet the needs of mobile users. Why aren’t operators required to demonstrate real-world connectivity along roads and railways, with published measurements of dropped calls, failed handovers and data interruptions? We have confused the availability of a technology with the delivery of a service. A mobile network that cannot reliably maintain a connection while mobile is fundamentally failing its purpose. Ofcom should be held accountable.

I am the Wetherspoons area manager for this pub. I actually decided that England flags and Union Jacks are not allowed in any of our pubs. People should be allowed to drink in peace without having politics shoved down their throat.

Awkward for @andreajenkyns
Hi @andreajenkyns, why did you delete the video of yourself with Paolo Zampoli talking about how you had just had lunch together? Is it because you realised the House Judiciary Committee investigation stated he was “an active participant” in Jeffery Epstein's alleged sex trafficking? Or was it that the FBI said he arranged a model’s visa before she was recruited to give a massage at Epstein’s house, where Epstein allegedly raped her? Or is it the civil lawsuit he’s facing over the alleged drugging and raping of Victoria Drake? And you think he’s “amazing”. That’s a lot of promises you’re making there, Mayor.

Elon Musk’s daughter lives in Los Angeles with three roommates because it’s cheaper. She says she has no inheritance from the richest man in the world. Her name is Vivian Wilson. She is one of Elon’s children with his first wife, Justine. In 2022, at 18, she went to court to change her name. Her filing said she no longer wished to be related to her biological father in any way, shape or form. Two years later, Musk said in an interview that his child had been killed by the woke mind virus. She answered publicly. She called him uncaring and narcissistic. Most people still assume she lives on his money. She doesn’t. “I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,” she told New York magazine. “College is expensive. I don’t have that inheritance.” She says she can afford food, she has friends, a roof over her head and a little spending money. That’s it. She only became financially independent after she landed a Teen Vogue cover in 2025. Now she models and walks runways at New York Fashion Week. Her father is worth hundreds of billions. She splits rent four ways. Is walking away from a billionaire parent’s money strength or pride? Follow me for more stories like this.
