There’s a blueprint out there for the Knicks to take what they currently have and become a perennial contender… and they’re not too far away as it is. That blueprint would be the 2018 Villanova basketball team, aka the best college basketball team of this century. 🧵Cont…

Deuce McBride is flat out better than Josh Hart and I’m tired of pretending otherwise.

If the Celtics underwhelm this season, will the blogger crowd stop predicting them to finish first in the East every year?

Pistons are a bit slept on this year. You don’t win 60 games by accident. That’s a damn good regular season team. I’ve got them finishing 3rd behind NY and Indiana.

Start. McBride. He is the ideal 5th starter instead of Hart but they just won’t do it. His offensive value is muted when you force him to be a playmaker off the bench.

Dolans comments over the summer gave the impression to fans that avoiding the 2nd apron was a financial decision rather than a basketball one and that’s why I think so many people are upset they’re not paying KAT whatever he wants. This KAT extension in practical terms could be the difference between 1-2 years with this core vs another 4 years together. It has massive roster building implications and worth holding out on for now if they can get closer to the number they want.

I’ll say it again for those that need to hear it. This Knicks team is on the path to a becoming dynasty. Sometimes you gotta be willing to ruffle some feathers to keep a great thing going. All this contract noise will soon pass.

The Dolan Family trust owns 3% of class A shares and 32% of class B shares which give them a blended real equity ownership of roughly 18-19% The Dolan Family trust that owns the knicks are a group of 6 people Based of of recent SEC (remember this is all public info), James Dolan owns a whopping (Wait for it) (Wait longer) 1% of the knicks Out of that 1% of the knicks LITERALLY 99.9% of it is in stock The stock is up 74% in the past year 74% of its 9.65 billion dollar market cap means the stock added 4.1 billion dollars in one fckn year If you think james dolan and the owners of the knicks (which 82% of which is owned by the public) is refusing to pay an extra 50mm amortized over then next 5 years after the stock is up 4 billion in one year then youre lost. Or maybe the second apron is punitive enough from a basketball standpoint where it doesnt make sense to go into it BEFORE you pay Jalen Brunson 80mm a year Too many of yall act like james dolan owns the whole team and he has a fckn checking account with 2 billion dollars and that 50mm he doesnt want to pay KAT comes out of his pocket 🤣🤣🤣

There is no financial sacrifice Dolan can make to avoid the basketball repercussions that come with entering the 2nd apron. You guys are just getting mad to get mad without taking the time to understand the situation. KAT is a good dude and I believe they’ll eventually meet somewhere closer to the middle of like $230mil / 4 years, but making it into a Dolan vs KAT situation is just telling on your ignorance.

If you want a discussion on the fairness of the current CBA that’s fine. But we can’t change the past or fast forward to the future. The present agreement is what it is and we have to operate in that reality.

Overall, I don’t mind the Knicks playing hardball on negotiations. It actually shows how serious they are about wanting to win in the future. The easy thing would be to do what Boston did after winning which is pay everyone what they want and inveitably trade them a year or two later. Boston is now in a situation where they are no longer contenders. Knicks want to avoid that.

As I see it the KAT issue right now seems to be that he is an interpreting the current offer as an indication of value. He has to understand that the offer isn’t a matter of what they value him at in a vacuum but what they feel is necessary to preserve their long term championship hopes.

As far as the money stuff goes, I feel much more for Deuce’s situation than KAT. KAT already has generational wealth. You can argue what he deserves right now but I won’t cry for him getting $50 -$55 mil a year instead of $65mil in order to keep the team together. Deuce has gotten better every year, has never made serious NBA money, and now finds himself in a situation where he’s getting squeezed due to cap circumstances outside his control.

For KAT it comes down to legacy vs ego here imo. You’ve achieved generational wealth. It’s not an insult to take a discount to preserve hopes of a dynasty. Will the extra $5-$10 mil a year matter when it’s all said and done or the opportunity to win more championships.
JUST IN: Karl-Anthony Towns reiterated that he's not close to an extension agreement. “Simply put – I want to do something to keep the team together and can work with the Knicks and also values me. And none of those things are close to happening.” Story coming:

Favorite over/under for 2026-2027 season (wins totals per FanDuel as of 8/4/26): Pacers OVER 43.5 wins (this is as close to a lock to me as it gets, closer to a 55 win team talent wise than a 45 win one. Clear 2nd best team in the East. Ridiculously mispriced) Lakers OVER 44.5 wins (I also expect 50+ wins) Warriors UNDER 39.5 wins Magic OVER 43.5 wins Jazz OVER 36.5 wins Celtics UNDER 50.5 wins Thunder UNDER 61.5 wins Wizards OVER 32.5 wins Hornets UNDER 39.5 wins Knicks OVER 52.5 wins Nuggets UNDER 48.5 wins

It’s funny to me how a talking point this offseason is that the two best teams are in the West and people have just accepted that as a true statement. Knicks literally won the finals in 5 games. Does reality even matter anymore or is it just about what people feel is true?

In terms of pure basketball fit and the team that LeBron could actually make a difference for, I think the Indiana Pacers would be his best destination. Runner up in 2025, totally slept on now after their gap year, and wing is their position of greatest need. Won’t happen because it’s Indiana, but if it were purely about basketball and winning that’s where he should go.

The Celtics era as contenders is over for this core. They will remain competitive in the regular season but they are a second round ceiling team the remainder of Tatum’s prime. The East is between the Knicks and Pacers.

The best GM in the league is a debate between Leon Rose and Sam Presti. Brad Stevens no longer belongs in that conversation.

Relax over Mitchell Robinson. He plays 50 games a year and 15 minutes a game when it matters. Great at what he does well but horribly flawed in other areas. And his best years are behind him. He is replaceable.

The Raptors are now an RJ Barrett trade away from being legitimate title contenders. Gotta turn him into some front court depth.
BREAKING: The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing deal sending Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, 2 first-round picks, 1 pick swap and 2 second-rounders, sources tell ESPN. A return to Canada for the Raptors champion and two-time Finals MVP.
