When abuse is alleged, there is always a devastated victim. If true, the person abused; if not, the accused and their family. #falselyaccusedday 9 Sept #FAD

"By the way the Probation blog is now officially blocked on the HMPPS system." It's only taken 16 years but I guess recognition of sorts at last.

Why does it appear that middle class, successful people are often more likely to be falsely accused? Are the police and CPS only interested in people with more to lose? All thoughts and comments appreciated. Please do share.

Herein lies the problem. Brand might just as well be a 'victim' of bundled false allegations. It's all what a trial is there to get to the heart of A person is innocent until proven guilty (and then any appeal) in the UK - however we feel about any of it @FACTukorg
Let’s wait and see what Russell Brand has to say when he’s cross examined before we start judging the victims.

The prosecution always present its evidence first in trials. Most in the court of public opinion aren’t aware of this fact.

Michael Naughton referenced the Bard in his recent response to the @ccrcupdate's rejection of the new 'Clydach Murders' app. They're howling about why they can't and won't refer cases to the CoA. Utterly bizarre. So Ol' Shakey is rattling around my brain :) @EmpowerInnocent

See my new book pinned on my profile (and why I work with @EmpowerInnocent, @FACTukorg etc - but that's not why I asked the question. I was just curious :))

" No one who knows anything about prisons thinks that they are fulfilling their rehabilitation remit. A renewed focus on purposeful activity inside jails is needed. But as increased numbers of prisoners are diverted towards probation, the service needs resources to deliver what is asked of it." ow.ly/FwYX50ZXXnr

"Any one watched the BBC drama Time? Jesus it just shows how fucked up the MOJ Criminal Justice system is. More harm is perpetuated and no rehabilitation nor Duty of Care. Am ashamed to have recently been a Civil Servant working in the MOJ."

Carl Beech’s malicious lies destroyed reputations, livelihoods & lives. Yet when he was released from prison, those he falsely accused & their families were not even informed. Why? Because we did not qualify for the Victim Contact Scheme. I commend @DavidLammy for acknowledging the profound harm caused & engaging constructively with our campaign for reform. But sympathy is no substitute for action. Lady Diana Brittan, Lord Bramall’s family, the Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation & I have asked the @MoJGovUK one straightforward question: will those directly harmed by criminal perversions of justice - including by those falsely accused - be recognised & protected as victims? We sought urgent clarification from @AlexJJNorris following his appointment as Justice Secretary. Months later, we are still awaiting a substantive response. The Ministry of Justice now says it will keep the law under review. That is not enough. We need a clear commitment & a timetable. We must ensure that those deliberately & maliciously targeted by proven criminal falsehoods are not forgotten. If someone weaponises the justice system to destroy an innocent person’s life, & is convicted for doing so, how can the person whose life was destroyed not be recognised as a victim? Notification. Consultation. Recognition. Protection. That is all we ask, & we will not stop asking until the injustice is addressed. Thank you to @odlinggeorge of @thetimes for highlighting an extraordinary injustice at the heart of our criminal justice system. @FACTukorg thetimes.com/article/3aaaf97…

If the police can obtain unlawful search warrants against a former prince, what hope is there for the rest of us? Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s High Court victory against @ThamesVP should concern every citizen, regardless of their views about him. I know the devastating consequences of police failures. During Operation Midland, search warrants were obtained against me, former Home Secretary Lord Brittan & former head of the Armed Forces Lord Bramall. The judge was misled, and Sir Richard Henriques subsequently identified 43 police errors. Now, more than a decade later, another police force has obtained search warrants that the High Court has ruled were unlawfully issued. Have the police learned nothing? If this can happen to a former prince, a former Home Secretary & a former head of our Armed Forces, what hope is there for ordinary teachers, doctors, nurses & others without the money or influence to challenge the police? Andrew’s case is not Operation Midland. An unlawful warrant does not prove the allegations against him are false, nor that police deliberately misled the judge. But it raises profoundly troubling questions about police accountability. Thames Valley Police must explain what went wrong, why it happened and who is responsible. The police are not above the law & justice must not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford to fight for it. The most worrying question is how many ordinary people may have suffered similar injustices without ever having the means to challenge them. @FACTukorg telegraph.co.uk/royal-family…
