New @karenanhweilee novel is out! Me, blurbing:
"What starts off as a plague journal narrated by a chibi Rabelais becomes by way of limitless lists, alliteration, and logophilia something darker and more serious, a meditation on meaning, death, and God in the manner of Donne ...

White is a living archive of pre-conglomerate publishing, his perspective worth taking in. Below, the late Ron Sukenick, an FC2 founder with whom I had many spirited debates about "alternative" literature in that time.

Two great novellas, an x-ray vision into the problems of gender & economics & our sentimental visions of the western past with all its folksy ruins, troubling & clarifying the murky lenses with which we sometimes view things like prosperity, inheritance, property, and bodies.
Great book. Ben Marcus, from his foreword: "What marks this severe book is an astounding level of discipline in the prose."
We're celebrating all our LGBTQIA+ authors this Pride Month! Check out Joanna Ruocco's ANOTHER GOVERNESS / THE LEAST BLACKSMITH. Stark and vibrant, the two halves of this sutured book expose the Frankenstein-like scars of the assemblage we call “human.”

Fyi: You can read it with Shame as well as for Pride, if that's what you're into.
For Pride Month, why not read @stephen_beachy's epic, capacious, sinuous tale, GLORY HOLE! It is about AIDS, meth, porn, fake biographies, street outreach, the study of Arabic verb forms, Polish transgender modernists, obsession, and future life forms.... fc2.org/authors/beachy/

Fascinating book, especially if you are interested in the fragmentary and elusive ground of thought and identity.
Thanatographies by Yanara Friedland @FCtwo
Lockdown-years pub from @FCtwo, kind of identity-anchored, free-jazz headtrip that defined Black Arts (and rarely seen since), serpentine sentences circling in on themes of sex (Black, Asian) and death (capital punishment). Heavy and ecstatic reading if that's what you're after.

I float around in thought and then recognize that the thought is a small root, part of a planetarium, a voracious consciousness.

Fond memories of each of the Sukenick Prize finalist manuscripts. So good and so strange. Thanks to everyone who sent something. Whenever I go through a submissions pile I'm reminded this is where the real work—keeping literature vital and (very important) weird—is happening.
Congratulations to @FCtwo contest winners Sophia Terazawa (Tetra Nova!) and Joe Fletcher, whose The Chimeras is my personal find of the year—and will be yours too—destined to be a classic of weird experimental horror and keystone for the new wave of UFO novels.
Have you heard the news about our official 2026 winners?
