FEMYSO unequivocally condemns the Islamophobic attack in France, which left 1 person dead and 5 injured. Anti-Muslim hatred has real, deadly consequences. We refuse to let Islamophobia be minimised, excused or normalised. Muslim communities deserve safety, dignity and justice.

FEMYSO expresses its firm solidarity with students in France and Belgium who are taking to the streets to demand better educational conditions, adequate funding, and an education system that upholds their fundamental rights.

Today, the European Parliament adopted a resolution targeting so-called “Islamist entryism”, including calls to restrict, discredit and defund civil society organisations. We, European civil societies, strongly condemn this attack on Muslim and anti-racist civil society.

Targeting organisations such as FEMYSO, ENAR and CCIE based on unsubstantiated allegations is a dangerous step for civic space and a stain on European institutions and the values they are meant to uphold.

Today, FEMYSO hosted the European Action Day Against Islamophobia in the European Parliament in Brussels with panel discussions on the 'EU Anti-Racism Strategy 2026-2030' and 'Imagining an Anti-Racist Europe built by Youth: From Critique to Collective Vision.'

During the panel discussion on the EU Anti-Racism Strategy, Nicole Romain (EU Fundamental Rights Agency) said, “Not everyone who experiences discrimination in the EU has access to information. We need to strengthen equality bodies and institutions that process grievances.”

Very disappointing. ECR is once again recalling false ban claims. FEMYSO is a youth-led, independent, non-partisan organisation. Stop demonising the youth in a poor attempt to harvest votes.
40 MEPs of the left-wing stood up in support of Islamists! 🇫🇷 @MarionMarechal proposed an oral amendment to block funding of FEMYSO, an organisation linked to and promoting the ideas of the Muslim Brotherhood. The "Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations" was already banned from organizing events in the European Parliament. Yet, some of their events are still funded by the EU, while they are also funded by Qatar and Turkey, both of which have heavy ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Should the EU fund these organisations?

And a reminder: in 2015, an ECR MEP hosted the European Parliament roundtable launching EADAI, organised by FEMYSO. ECR has rightly engaged with this needed work. So why turn against your party’s values now?

A reminder: after we faced harassment at EYE2021, many MEPs from your political group publicly supported FEMYSO and signed a letter defending our participation at EYE. We have engaged with your MEPs before, and they stood up for our right to participate.

It is deeply concerning to now see a member of the same political group calling for our expulsion while promoting a claim that has already been refuted by an official European Parliament response. This contradicts your group’s own values: fighting intolerance and promoting equality and non-discrimination on all grounds.
