Opening ceremony and lecture at Solutions in Chemistry 2024 @SiC_2022, by the Croatian Chemical Society
In 2019, we reported the use of E. coli cells to synthesize enantiopure amines, but the process was limited by amine toxicity. In this new study, we evolved E. coli strains with higher amine tolerance to enable more efficient stereoselective bioamination.

Congrats to @Witzher1 & co-authors on another publication in @ChemBioChem, this time on bio-electrocatalytic asymmetric reduction of activated alkenes. This study used ene-reductases with an electrochemical system for flavin cofactor recycling. @UvA_Amsterdam @HimsUva

Happy to share that our review on amine dehydrogenases has been published in @ChemCatChem. An overview of this enzyme family, covering structural biology, classification, engineering strategies, substrate scope, and applications in organic chemistry.

We hope that this review will inspire further research on this family of enzymes and encourage their adoption by the chemical industry for sustainable, highly selective, and atom-efficient reductive amination of carbonyl compounds and beyond!
