🌹 St. Gemma Galgani and the Soul in Purgatory St. Gemma Galgani (1878–1903), known as the Daughter of the Passion, had a deep love for Jesus and compassion for souls suffering in Purgatory. According to the traditional account of her mystical experiences, the soul of a Passionist nun, Sister Maria Teresa of the Infant Jesus, appeared to Gemma seeking prayers and help. Moved with compassion, Gemma prayed intensely and offered sacrifices for her soul for 16 days, repeatedly pleading, “Jesus, save her!” At the end of this period, Sister Maria Teresa reportedly appeared to Gemma radiant and joyful, saying she was going to enjoy the presence of Jesus. This moving story reminds us of the importance of praying for the souls in Purgatory.
