Fantastic news from our fellow journalists and union members in the US. After protracted and tough negotiations they have a recognition deal to be proud of. Sending congratulations and, as always, solidarity, from @ftnuj and @NUJofficial A great fight and a great win! ✊❤️

Three years, nine months—from the first meeting where we pledged to form a union, to today. I love the committee members past and present @FTUSGuild. I love our unit. I love our allies at @ftnuj, @ftsguild and @newsguild.
We did it. Because ...
WHEN WE FIGHT, WE WIN! ✊✊✊

Incredibly proud of our entire newsroom for securing this deal, especially our absolutely tireless bargaining committee and contract action team that made this all possible! ✊

We're stronger together!
In addition to the amazing group of people picketing outside of the NY office, we also have 60+ remote workers on strike ✊

Members of @FTUSGuild stopped work for 30 minutes today to deliver a clear message to @FT CEO John Ridding and our owner @Nikkei: We deserve fair compensation
We’re fighting for a higher retirement match, improved parental leave and one-time raises for our lowest-paid colleagues

I’m walking out for coffee with @FTUSGuild to get a retirement match and parental leave that’s closer to what my UK colleagues receive. #faircontractnow

Just got out of bargaining. Yet again @FT asserts that US and UK workers are treated the same, but won't provide numbers to back their assertion. Any business journalist worth their paycheck knows what that means.

Sending solidarity from FT journalists and trade unionists in the UK. The @ftnuj chapel is behind you, it's time to get the fair deal you all deserve ✊
We’re back at the bargaining table today, more than two years after the @FT recognized our union. We still don’t have a contract. It’s time for management to get serious. Enough with the low-ball offers. Enough with the delays. The FT’s US staff deserves a fair contract now.

In March Press Gazette reported that FT journalists in the US were seeking salary rises averaging just over $4,000 to bring their pay more in line with US employers:

Marking two years since the FT agreed to voluntarily recognise its US union, the group has invited CEO John Ridding to the bargaining table, saying failure to agree a contract means the FT has lost reporters to rivals "who will pay them what they're worth"

Replying to @FTUSGuild
We’ve gone far too long without a contract. We’re losing valuable co-workers and our members are compensated less than our UK colleagues. So we’re inviting CEO @John_Ridding to come to a bargaining session to see what the FT is proposing for workers in its biggest growth market.
