50 STATE ATTORNEYS GENERAL URGED TO INVESTIGATE TICKETMASTER!
The Ticket Policy Forum is calling for an investigation after Ticketmaster’s October 2 ticket transfer failures.
Superman Sam, @saumil did Ticketmaster’s own resale platform have the same problems as its competitors?
How many fans were left stranded, and who’s taking responsibility?
Fans deserve an answer. Ask your boss Michael Rapino if you’re allowed to tell us the truth Sam

Ticketmaster has a massive conflict of interest.
Their job should be getting fans tickets at a fair price. Instead, fans are thrown into panic-inducing queues while resale listings appear the SECOND tickets go on sale.
The same company facilitating the original sale also profits from resale transactions.
Why should fans trust a system where the company selling the tickets can also make money when those tickets are resold for more?
The priority should be getting tickets to fans, not creating an environment where resale becomes another revenue stream.

Congratulations to the @Ticketmaster team and @saumil
Every single popular show has hundreds of thousands of “people” in the queue.
They have successfully created the worst buying experience for any product in the world. Amazing accomplishment.

In an official UK Parliament report published today, Britain’s competition regulator acknowledges the U.S. jury verdict finding Live Nation/Ticketmaster maintained a harmful monopoly.

Banning resale or putting a cap has no effect on face value prices.
If anything it drives face value higher than ever and gives no alternatives to buy elsewhere.
Thanks Toronto for proving the point, should be easy to show every politician in the US why this model doesn’t work.
Something legitimately awful is happening with @TicketmasterCA ticket prices in Canada. Like this is so out of control.
Standard admission.
Not floor.
Not vip.
Not resale.
Standard. Admission.
A few weeks ago those same smashing pumpkins tickets were hundreds less.

Look into how ticketing and promoting works Robin. They don't just pull a ticket price out of their arse. It's based on data, a lot of data!
What was demand for the arena tour & average spend last year now what is it for a one off small show? Ergo what can we charge for a stadium
Please support if you can. 🙏🏻 #bcfc

LIVE NATION FRANCE
Live Nation is taking over Paris La Défense Arena.
France’s competition authority was already reviewing the deal under merger-control law, basically antitrust review.
Then France changed the merger thresholds.
Now this Live Nation acquisition no longer has to go through mandatory merger review, so Live Nation pulled the filing.
And this arena already has a serious public money history.
The Hauts-de-Seine government bought about €167 MILLION in office space tied to the project, and that public purchase helped make the arena financing possible.
So now Live Nation is moving in on an arena that already had major public money behind it, while the merger review that was already happening is no longer required because the thresholds changed.
France says the competition authority is still “keeping an eye on it.”
Apparently that’s what merger review is now?
@Autorite_concurrence are you watching what’s happening in the United States and right next door in the UK, where Parliament has raised serious concerns about Live Nation, market dominance and a “climate of fear” in live music?

want to hear more about why I’m starting the Fans First Movement, the great hypocrisy behind @LiveNation, @RocNation and Irving Azoff’s @MusicArtistsCo, and why fans finally deserve a real seat at the table, take a listen

Live Nation President Joe Berchtold, mocking competitors who objected to the DOJ settlement:
“We would like you to cripple them more so that we can have an easier time competing.”
Joe, for 16 years, independent promoters and regulators have accused Live Nation and Ticketmaster of using their power to cripple competition.
Now competitors object to your DOJ settlement and suddenly YOU’RE worried about making it easier to compete?
That’s like Godzilla leveling the whole city, then filing a noise complaint against the survivors.
Joe, you’ve been drinking too much of @Michael_Rapino Kool-Aid
THE GREAT HYPOCRISY continues.

THIS IS THE @LiveNation FESTIVAL LOOPHOLE NOBODY SHOULD IGNORE
Independent festivals told UK Parliament there are “countless examples” of artists allegedly being told: want to play major Live Nation festivals? Move your UK touring business to Live Nation.
They called it an “open secret.”
NOW READ THE DOJ SETTLEMENT.
Its definition of “Live Entertainment Event” specifically EXCLUDES multi-day, multi-artist festivals.
THE SAME KIND OF FESTIVALS INDEPENDENTS ARE WARNING PARLIAMENT ABOUT ARE CARVED OUT OF
DOJ: CLOSE THE FESTIVAL LOOPHOLE

The 2 & 1/2 year failure of Birmingham civic leaders to step in and CPO what was the UK’s oldest working cinema AND the birthplace of Black Sabbath is, frankly, embarrassing.
A city is defined by its stories. Birmingham’s leaders are letting ‘developers’ erase our story.

I’m sorry, but £408 for Glastonbury is a complete scam
In 2000 it was £87. Even with inflation, it should be £160
Add food, fuel, & travel, and you’re dropping £700+ to sleep in the mud & listen to sh*t music
Everything in the UK is getting more expensive & lower quality
How are people accepting this? Nothing in this country makes sense anymore

I’M JUST GETTING STARTED EXPOSING THE GREAT HYPOCRISY IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.
Ali Harnell sits on the board of the Music Artists Coalition, founded by @irvingazoff.
But who is @aliharnell?
She’s a high-ranking @LiveNation executive and global touring promoter who reported directly to Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino.
Here’s what she publicly said about him:
“I have loved getting to work for and with Michael Rapino. He’s a remarkable leader, and I feel trusted and supported.”
She also praised Rapino for showing “true leadership” and “putting his money where his mouth is.”
Now @MusicArtistsCo is pushing ticketing legislation supported by Live Nation across the country, including here in Massachusetts, while presenting itself as a voice for artists.
Anyone with a little common sense can see the hypocrisy.
A Live Nation executive sits on MAC’s board. Live Nation supports the legislation. MAC pushes the legislation. She publicly praises Live Nation’s CEO.
And we’re supposed to believe the Music Artists Coalition is an independent voice for artists?
That’s not independence. They’re part of the same band.
When reporting based on Live Nation’s internal communications revealed plans to “squeeze” artists into submission, I publicly asked MAC to call it out.
Silence.
Now we know why.
Calling out Live Nation would mean one of MAC’s own board members calling out her employer and the “remarkable leader” she publicly praised.
This is exactly why I’m building a real fans-first organization to finally give fans a seat at the table.
We will fight for legislation that represents fans, truly independent promoters and artists who cannot speak freely for themselves.
We’re working on launching soon. If you want to help change this industry, DM me.

UK PARLIAMENT WAS TOLD HOW LIVE NATION AND TICKETMASTER PUT INDEPENDENT PROMOTERS IN A CHOKEHOLD.
Book a venue controlled by Live Nation and at least 75% of the tickets must go through Ticketmaster.
Give Ticketmaster less than 75% of the ticket inventory and the venue can charge you another £1 for every ticket below that requirement just to use the venue.
Holding ticket money until the show happens can be normal.
But independent promoters told Parliament that Ticketmaster can hold their money for another six to eight weeks after the concert, while the promoter has already paid the artist and every expense.
