Absolutely lost it laughing sometime around where I learned that Danish for "great ass" is "FantastiSquirrel"

I am disturbed that in the year 2026, in America, decisions about the health of children aren’t being made based on the best science, but instead based on politics.
There is a broad, almost unanimous, 99+ percent medical consensus on correct vaccinations for children. If a family or politician wants to dither with Covid due to how new it is, fine. This is, at least to some degree, understandable. But deviating from the best science, on something like measles, for political purposes, is a historically low moment for this country.
There were some real substantive issues with the Covid vaccine. Going from there to “I will never vaccinate anyone in my family or my pets“ is perhaps the best indicator of being an incredibly stupid/gullible person.
If you burn your mouth on pizza once, you don’t decide that all food is bad. Deciding to never eat pizza again is already kind of stupid, but come on people.
There is no doubt that vaccines have saved at least 150 million lives over the last 50 years. Over that period of time, using the most liberal accounting possible, maybe like 5000 people have died “because of“ vaccines.
So if you really, really want to limit the benefits of vaccines and really really talk up the dangers, For every person they kill, vaccines save the lives of 3000 people.
If you don’t want to take vaccines that were developed and deployed in a hurry in the middle of a political maelstrom and a global meltdown, I can totally understand that. But giving your kids measles and putting their lives at risk because you’re too stupid to differentiate between the good version of a thing and the bad version of a thing is just embarrassing.
Your kid should be more important than your politics.
I’m not as dialed in with the NBA in retirement as I used to be, but am I missing some reason this Trae Young contract isn’t completely, undeniably absurd?
Doing this before they knew they had the number one pick would have been incredibly stupid. Doing it now is an almost unfathomable level of malpractice.
It’s not quite Nico Harrison/Luka bad, but it’s probably the second worst front office move of the last decade.
One day this will come up on social media and I won’t watch it all the way through…
Today is not that day.
Doesn't seem fair that Viagra and Cialis come with labels about erections lasting more than four hours but there was no such warning in the pre-game show for Spurs/Thunder.
Heading to second overtime.
A huge number of people (3!) have asked so in case anyone else cares:
1) I have the Thunder winning in 7 in a close series;
2) I would bet on the Spurs at current prices;
3) I think Spurs in 6 is a better bet than Spurs in 7;
4) I don't think the Fox injury moves things enough to change that determination.
5) You can bet your ass I'll see every minute of the series. More bricked up for a conference finals since at least 2018 Hou/Gs, though unlike that one, I won't personally have a large bet down.
Good luck all.

NBA history set tonight by these gladiators:
1) First game to have 3 triple-doubles recorded.
2) First game to have multiple triple-doubles by bench players.
3) Lowest +/- ever recorded by someone who posts a triple-double (Jahmai Mashack, -46, beating previous record of -30)

Maynard James Keenan has shared a message of support for his longtime friend and former classmate, General Randy George, who was recently ousted by Pete Hegseth.
"As long as I can remember, I wanted to be an artist in some way. Visual, musical, performing. I wasn’t certain what, just that the arts were where I was supposed to be. However, after H.S. graduation, the reality of tuition set in. My family was living on a teacher's salary. There wasn't much left over after bills, and grants and student loans weren't going to cover it.
"So I joined the Army to take advantage of the Army College Fund. As it turns out, I excelled in the military, which was not what I was expecting. I was awarded Distinguished Graduate from both basic and advanced training. Then, after many, many rounds of testing, I was chosen to attend U.S.M.A.P.S. and to apply to the U.S. Military Academy, West Point.
"As you can imagine, most of my classmates at West Point Prep were there with a singular mission: to be a West Point graduate and serve in our military. Focus, drive, a plan, and zero compromise. I, on the other hand, was one of the few with doubts and inner conflict.
"So when my heart spoke louder than the outside influencers and I declined my appointment to West Point, most of those around me saw it as a huge mistake. But a handful were very supportive. They knew me well enough to respect that decision. One of those supportive classmates was my cross-country teammate, Randy George.
"If you've been wading through the flood of news lately, you may recognize that name. Randy went on to become a four-star general and Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. He was approaching his 40th year of service.
"I can't even imagine how disappointed and upset he must feel for having been “asked” to retire early. So I'm just here to return that favor of support. We're here for you, Randy. Might be time for a beer or three. See you soon."

JESUS: so do you still celebrate the day I was crucified?
ME: oh yeah, it's a major holiday
JESUS: and what is it called? Sad Friday?
ME: ...
JESUS: tragic Friday?

Just walked into my living room and my daughter, home for break, is watching, of her own volition and inspiration, an ironically AI-rendered video of "I have no mouth, and I must scream," which was a substantial influence on me, but I had never mentioned to her.
Made my fucking year.
A big pet peeve of mine is people who are rude to customer service or food service staff.
And I did it today. On a call with customer service, I became what I beheld. What a dick I was. I didn't yell or curse, but I was just rude by any objective standard. Voice dripping with disdain, haughty; gross. Worst version of myself, and there are some bad versions of me.
And the guy was so professional and we ended up laughing about it. Not a lot of calls to customer service are because everyone is happy, but still. Be better than me, folks. And sorry again, Gilbert; you're a real one.
If Bam goes for 82 against this Wizards team, it's going to be a weird moment.
I remember watching Kobe's 81 and while that Raptors squad wasn't great, they had Jalen Rose and Chris Bosh out there for 40+ minutes; they were trying to win.
If that record for modern scoring drops to Bam - who is great - against this Wizards team, it will feel a little bit ick.

Have the flu so bad can’t keep anything down; wife made me theraflu but am too nauseous to drink it.
She was upset for a minute because she can’t figure how to help me but then bursts into the room and suggests - boofing it.
Since then she’s flashed a turkey baster at me with what looked like a hint of a grin but for the moment at least I have a repreive as she is concerned about the dose.
Pray for me, my brothers.
Might have been some truth here.

Here, let me help. There's two reasons, the first you maybe like, the second maybe not:
1) Your team REALLY sucks. So other teams can afford to double off your teammates more because while you are far from efficient, they are truly awful.
2) If you know someone will still take a ton of shots, even if they are bad shots, you still double-team him and make his bad shots even worse.
You are top 7 in the NBA in shots taken per minute.
Most everyone in the top 20 is either one of the best players in the world and makes a good deal mroe shots than you or is also on a team with limited offense.
