JUST IN: The new CANNONBALL! water roller coaster has been topped off at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. The park shared video of the 90-foot lift hill being "crowned" on Friday afternoon. The ride will be the first water roller coaster in the Midwest. @HolidayWorld said the ride is on track to open next May. CANNONBALL! is a $22 million attraction designed by Mack Rides that will feature 1,000 feet of track with a 90-foot lift hill and a top speed of 45mph.

JUST IN: Six Flags says they will be adding seat belts to Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia, and “other coasters with a similar restraint,” after the fatal incident a few weeks ago. Six Flags has confirmed that the following roller coasters will be receiving the added safety belts: - Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia - Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America - Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure When asked for a timetable on when the safety belts could be installed, Six Flags provided this statement: “The timing may vary by attraction based on the reviews, engineering requirements, availability of components and applicable approval processes. We will not reopen an affected attraction until the necessary work and reviews associated with that ride have been completed. We will provide park-specific updates as information becomes available.”

UPDATE: 42 year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem has been identified as the man killed on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia yesterday. Kariem was a staff member at the Wesley International Academy in the Atlanta Public Schools. Kariem's family released this photo and told @11AliveNews that "he was a passionate educator who loved his city and was invested in bringing families back together." The Atlanta Public Schools released this statement: "Atlanta Public Schools extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr. Kariem. He was a cherished member of the Wesly International Academy and APS families whose presence and impact will be deeply missed by our students, staff, and all those whose lives he touched. Our thoughts are with everyone mourning his loss during this difficult time."
