Pakistan's diplomatic sprint continues.
After Mecca Joint Defence Agreement (Pakistan/Saudi/Turkiye : Aug 2026), then Badr defence industry MoU with Qatar, Turkiye & Indonesia (Doha, Oct 21), and the first R4+E3 summit in Istanbul (Oct 23)
Now Mecca Alliance envoys head to Tehran today to discuss regional security.
No official offer of Iran inclusion , Iran envoy said they will "study if it is good" but talks mark first high-level contact of the bloc with Iran. Well played diplomacy. Well done Pakistan!
The Mecca Agreement is defensive and does NOT obligate troops to Yemen per Pakistan/Turkiye statements, and the Badr MoU is NOT a mutual defence pact , it's joint production, tech transfer and training.

CM Punjab @MaryamNSharif has said that she will be meeting the family of Hina . What I know is that one of her parents is suffering dementia, the brother is trying to raise voice and has asked for a judicial commission. There are some serious questions that need answering. Let's see what happens, Hina was brutally murdered in an incident in Rawalpindi.

This comes as the family rejects the police probe and demands a Judicial Commission. Husband Faisal Asghar & servant Zeeshan Arshad are in Adiala Jail on judicial remand in the case registered at Civil Lines PS in Aug.
New photos and the initial post-mortem have emerged, confirming severe torture. The report notes broken neck, deep wounds on face, arms and neck, bruising, a 27cm wound on the back of the head, lungs filled with blood, and screwdriver injuries on elbows. Her body was allegedly staged in the bathroom after the murder.
In my show, Hina's brother said when he reached the house of his dead sister's on the day of the murder, the husband was sitting calmly with his father.

Continued on Gymkhana
Is this only Pakistan's problem? No.
In India, the Delhi Gymkhana Club was doing the exact same thing . 27.3 acres in Lutyens' Delhi at Rs 409.50 per year since 1927. In May 2026, the Indian government finally snapped. It raised rent to Rs 47.59 crore per year and issued a vacate order for defence purposes. The matter is now in Delhi High Court.
In Bangladesh, Dhaka Club, founded 1911, also sits on prime Shahbagh land on nominal lease, and faces the same annual parliamentary criticism.
In the UK, there is no such thing. The Royal clubs like White's or Marylebone Cricket Club own their freehold or pay full commercial rent to The Crown Estate. Fife Council rules are clear: you apply 3 months early, submit 3 years of audited accounts, a business plan, and pay market rent. No audit, no lease. No member in power can whisper a rate.

Lahore Gymkhana pays Rs 417/month for 112 acres in central Lahore. Land worth Rs 218bn. Potential rent Rs 22.5bn/year. State gets Rs 5,000/year. This is not a lease, it's a cruel joke.
Late night musings!
The Loneliness of 8 Years
Eight years is not a long time.
In eight years, a child goes from class 2 to class 10. In eight years, I went from "Meri ammi abbu best hain" to "I have no parents at all."
No one tells you that grief doesn't kill you once. It kills you in installments.
First time when you need Baba's signature and there is no one to call.
Second time when you cook chicken and realize you never asked Ammi for the exact recipe.
Third time when your own child says, "My friend's nani came today," and you have to swallow a whole ocean.
I said: It's very lonely.
It is. Because I was raised as the center of a love story. Idrees loved Nighat. Nighat loved Idrees. And both of them together loved us like we were the conclusion of their love letter. When the writers of the letter leave, the letter feels orphaned.
But listen, warrior:
Grief is not the opposite of love. Grief IS love. Love that has no place to go, so it circles back into your own chest.
You are not empty. You are full. Too full. That's why it hurts.
😂
"Wo thi kishwar khala ki haweli."
"Daddo neighbor thi aapki??"
"Nahi bete. Masiha thi wo."
I swear everyone's so ott here I love it 😭🤣

Well said @HibaFawadPk
"Not a single tree will be cut", says @MohsinnaqviC42
F-9 Park holds a special place in the hearts of everyone living in Islamabad.
Let me make it absolutely clear that Not a single tree will be cut 100% guaranteed. No new concrete structures.
Instead, we are planning better lighting, a beautiful lake, coffee shops, improved walkways, and the plantation of thousands of additional trees.
Our only goal is to make F-9 Park greener, safer, more beautiful, and more enjoyable for families and visitors.

Well done PCB for raising awareness regarding a gnawing issue like breast cancer.
I have recently seen very close people struggling with this disease , while the struggle is atrocious, awareness can play a critical role in easing out the trial.
It's sad that Pakistan has the highest breast cancer rate in Asia. 1 in 9 women will develop it. Thats a huge ratio. 90,000 new cases & 40,000 deaths EVERY YEAR = 109 women a day. Whats concerning is that 70% of these women are diagnosed at Stage III/IV, only 4% at Stage I. Why? Because we don't talk about it. We don't want to talk about it.
Average age is early 50s, but many in 30s develop it. In West, early detection survival is 99%. Here, we hide it due to taboo, go to healers first, and rural women have no oncologist, no mammogram. Even urban women have very little awareness.
Western countries beat it with routine screening at 40+, free mammograms, LHWs trained to check.
PCB and Pink Ribbon are offering FREE screening Oct 24 & 26 at Pink Ribbon Hospital Lahore and auctioning Babar/Shaheen signed shirts to fund treatment.
If cricket can bring 90k people to stadium, it can bring 90k women to screening. And it should.
Check yourself. Teach your mother, sister, wife to check. BSE once a month. Mammogram after 40. Scans even before that. Early detection = life.

Thanks for very important feedback.
Your examples from Delhi and Dhaka are spot on and completely analogous.
But let me tell you something about the U.K. - it probably has the least equitable land distribution in the world. Apart from the tracts of land owned by the Crown in London, large chunks of the rest of the city were divided up and the freehold distributed to a handful of families and the Church of England. Only very recently, have people tried to change this by converting their leaseholds to freeholds but it’s still hardly equitable.
Yet, like with everything in Britain, change is generally slow but sure and not radical and revolutionary (very unlike neighbouring France). And one thing they’ve done well is preserve public parks and spaces really well. But when it comes to private land ownership, it’s very inequitable.

Yes. Investigation has not concluded yet. We shall leave no stone unturned. I will also meet the family personally. Thank you.
The Punjab government now wants to declare Gymkhana a "public body" under the Transparency and Right to Information Act, audit its restaurants, shops, and banquet halls, and maybe shift it to RUDA on the outskirts like Murad once proposed for Aitchison College.
The question is not whether Rs 5,000 is low. The question is why we allowed it for 30 years?
So, what do you think?
Should Lahore Gymkhana be made to pay market rent , Rs 5 billion a year, and the money used for public schools and hospitals?
Or should it be vacated entirely and Bagh-e-Jinnah restored to the people of Lahore?
In all honesty, it is part of Pakistan's history and beauty as well. Preserving it would be the way forward, but mechanism maybe no longer the same.
Comment below.
