My friend canceled our MONTHS-planned vacation three days before departure because a guy she'd just started dating invited her away for the weekend. We'd already booked flights and split a NONREFUNDABLE hotel room. I was disappointed, but it was her choice. Then I asked about her half of the hotel. "But you'll still be staying there," she said. WAIT, WHAT?! She expected me to cover the ENTIRE cost! I explained I'd only chosen that hotel because we were splitting it.

My wife was determined to have her cousin babysit our children. She trusted family more than some stranger, and I understood that, even if I wasn't completely comfortable with it. She assured me he was responsible and had a lot of experience with kids. The first few times he watched them, nothing seemed unusual. The children ate, the house was picked up, and he always said they had a good time. Then our oldest began acting strange whenever we talked about leaving them with him. One Friday evening, as we were getting ready to go out for dinner, our child pulled me aside and whispered, “Dad, please don't leave us alone with him again.” I knelt down and asked what had happened. “Did he hurt you?”....

the 7:14 train to the city has been part of my life for three years, and so has the man who sits in the seat across from mine. every morning, at the same stop, he gets on, sits down, and gives me one slow nod. i nod back. we have never said a word. he wears a gray scarf, reads a paperback, and gets off two stops before me. i started thinking of him as my work spouse. last week, he wasn't there, and i felt weirdly lost all day. on monday he was back, and i decided that three years was enough. i leaned forward and said "can i ask you something? why do we nod?"...

I was 32, married, and living with my husband, Daniel, in a quiet neighborhood outside Charlotte, North Carolina. outside Charlotte, North Carolina. Daniel usually left for his morning workout around 5:00 AM. I didn't get out of bed until 7:00, so I was still fast asleep when someone started pounding on our front door at 6:15 one Tuesday morning. It was still dark outside. I pulled on a sweatshirt and walked toward the door, assuming Daniel had forgotten his keys. “Who's there?” I called without unlocking it. “DoorDash delivery from Walgreens,” a man answered. I was confused. Neither of us regularly used DoorDash, and I hadn't ordered anything from Walgreens. “Can you leave it by the door, please?” “I need someone over 21 to sign for it.” “I'm sorry, but I didn't order anything. Could you leave it outside?” “I can't. I need a signature.” I called Daniel, but he didn't answer. The man knocked again. “Ma'am, I have other deliveries to make. Can you open the door so I can get this done?” I stood there in the dark hallway, suddenly uncomfortable. I couldn't see his face clearly through the narrow glass panel beside the door, and I wasn't expecting a stranger at that hour. “I'm not opening the door. Please leave.” He moved closer. “Your voice is hard to hear. Can you come closer?” That was when my anxiety turned into genuine fear. I told him I was calling the police. He kept knocking for another few seconds before finally walking away. I called 911 and explained what had happened. By the time I finished speaking to the dispatcher, the man was gone. I locked the door again and sat on the couch, waiting for my heart to slow down. I had no idea that my husband was about to explain everything.

My 7-year-old daughter called my manager from my phone while I was in the shower. Manager: Hello? Daughter: Hi. Is this Mummy’s boss? Manager: I am. Who is this? Daughter: I’m her daughter. I need to ask you something. Manager: Okay… what is it? Daughter: Mummy said she can’t come to my school tomorrow because she has an important board presentation.

When I was 20, I worked the evening shift at a small diner, n every Sunday night, a woman named Linda would call to complain that we had forgotten to include the extra pancakes she ordered. Every Sunday. Same order. Same complaint. “I paid for three pancakes, n you only gave me two.” Our manager, Mike, hated arguments over small things, so he always told us to apologize n put a note on her account for a free side of pancakes. By the fourth week, I was convinced Linda was taking advantage of us. The kitchen staff started counting her pancakes twice before sealing the takeout container. I even began writing the number three on the lid with a marker. Every order left our kitchen with three pancakes. N every Monday morning, Mike would tell me Linda had called again. So the next Sunday, I volunteered to deliver her order myself. When I arrived, Linda opened the door, thanked me, n carried the bag straight to her kitchen. I asked if she could check the order before I left. She didn't seem offended. She opened the container right there on the.....

My father left when I was 9 and moved to Alberta for "oil work." For 28 years, I got almost nothing from him. Now I'm 37, and his daughter, a half-sister I've never met, is asking me to take care of him. Her message just said: "Hi Claire. I'm Megan, your sister. Dad had a stroke. Could you help me with him?" My dad missed my high school graduation, my college graduation, and my wedding. Every few years, a card showed up with a $20 bill and a "Thinking of you, kiddo." My mom raised me alone, working two jobs at a grocery store in Ontario. I stared at my phone and typed back: "Where was he when I was 9 and needed a dad?" Megan didn't reply for two days.

If you’re curious about what Rudeus said to Eris in the letter he sent: Dear Eris-sama, from Rudeus Greyrat. It has been a long time since we parted, 5 years have passed since then, do you still remember me? I am sure I will never forget the time we spent together, like that first night you spent by my side. I swear that I will never forget the rest of my life with you; however, if you would have me, I would be the third person to marry you and spend the rest of my life by your side, I have made the necessary preparations to accept you. Even though knowing this, your feelings for me have not changed and you still want to marry me and spend the rest of your life by my side, I have made the necessary preparations to accept you. However, even if I could make you hate me for it, I want you to know that I have no intention of separating from my current family, so if you marry me, you would be my third wife. If this would cause you any discomfort, I am fully prepared to receive your anger and your fists. Although on this matter, I would ask you to please restrain yourself to a maximum of 2 or 3 punches. But I want you to know that if possible, I would prefer not to have to fight against you, and if you don't want to become a member of my family, we could create a beautiful friendship. Rudeus Greyrat. P.S.: I will soon challenge the Dragon God Orsted to a fight. I don't know if I will be able to defeat him, so it's possible that by the time this letter arrives, I will have already passed away. But if I return alive, I hope we can continue this conversation.

When I started dating Allison, she told me she wasn't close to her family and preferred to keep her relationship separate from family issues. At first, I understood. She was 29, independent, and focused on building her life. But after eight months together, I'd met her friends and colleagues, and she'd even met my parents. Yet I still knew almost nothing about her family. Whenever I asked, she told me to give her more time. One evening, I brought it up again. Me: “Allison, we've been together for eight months. My parents know you, but I don't even know where your family lives.” Girlfriend: “Things are complicated at home. Please don't pressure me.” I let it go. A few weeks later, she visited my apartment. While she was in the kitchen, a message appeared on her phone from someone saved as Mum. “Have you spoken to Daniel's lawyer? You can't keep postponing the divorce forever.” I stared at the screen, confused. When Allison returned, I asked her about it. Me: “Who is Daniel? Your mum mentioned his lawyer and a divorce. What's going on?” She froze before putting down the glasses. Girlfriend: “There's something I've been meaning to tell you.” I had no idea what I was about to hear. 🧵

I've begged my parents to move closer to me as they've gotten older. I've offered to help them find a smaller, safer place. I've even offered to help cover some of the expenses. They refuse everything. Now my father has had a medical emergency, my mother can't drive herself home, and I'm expected to drop everything, arrange childcare, and somehow be in two places at once. I've spent years offering solutions they don't want to hear.

I just discovered my new boyfriend has holes. I was on my second colorful cocktail. Not drunk. Happy. Too sober, in fact. The frothy, puke-green bubbling surface reminded me briefly of Shrek.  The club was too loud. My dress was too sticky against my skin. And I could hear and feel my heartbeat everywhere but my chest. Then I saw them. Bathed in mesmerizing light that transformed them into two supernatural creatures, their beauty stood out against the unflattering backdrop of everyone else. I saw him first, spinning around and around, his head tilted back, thick blondish curls hanging over his half-lidded eyes. A total surfer dude. There was something about him. The way he flung his arms out, bobbing his head and bouncing up and down on his heels. Violent butterflies fluttered in my chest. This grown-ass man was having the time of his life. His eyes danced over the rafters above us. His gaze found mine, not-so-subtly beckoning me. Drawing closer, I pushed my way through the crowd toward him. He was glowing. Literally. Dazzling violet eyes, and lips that I immediately wanted to kiss. So, I did. I lunged forward, and hesitated, before he grabbed my face, and kissed me. Then I was poked from behind. A girl. The same shimmering smile, and long dark hair curling at her hips. Normally the type I'd be envious of. Gorgeous, and the cutest dress I'd ever seen, a black strappy knee length skirt and top.  I expected her to slap me. Instead, her ice cold hands found my cheek, lips capturing mine. “Oh.” My first time kissing a girl, and… I really ‘iked’ it.  I found myself being passed between the two of them, bouncing between being sandwiched in the girl’s chest and wrapped around the boy’s neck. “I’m Talia!” the girl said in my ear as the guy’s lips grazed my neck, pressing kisses down my chest. I shivered. “This is Sebastian, my boyfriend!” “And *my* boyfriend.”

I hope to see Sylvie in Doomsday. She's too connected to the multiverse storyline to just disappear, especially after everything that happened in Loki. But I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel keeps her role under wraps until the movie comes out plus there are already dozens of characters.

WIFE: Your Honor, before you give my husband custody of our children, I need to ask him one question in front of this entire courtroom. JUDGE: Mrs. Mitchell, this is a custody hearing, not a public argument. Ask your question, and make it relevant to the case. WIFE: Mr. Mitchell, when our daughter was in the emergency room, crying and asking for her father, where were you? HUSBAND: I was working. I’ve already explained that. WIFE: Working? Is that what you call spending the night in a hotel with your mistress? HUSBAND: Watch your mouth, Sarah. JUDGE: Mr. Mitchell, you will not speak to your wife that way in my courtroom. Continue, Mrs. Mitchell. WIFE: Your Honor, my husband filed for full custody three weeks after I discovered his affair. He told the court I was emotionally unstable, financially irresponsible, and incapable of raising our two children. JUDGE: Mr. Mitchell, are those allegations true? HUSBAND: Yes, Your Honor. My wife has been acting irrationally since I told her I wanted a divorce. I earn enough to provide a better life for the children. She can barely afford the mortgage. WIFE: Tell the judge why I can barely afford the mortgage. HUSBAND: I don’t know what you’re talking about. WIFE: Because you stopped paying into our joint account, emptied our savings, and transferred $86,000 to a woman you claimed was your business partner! HUSBAND: That money was mine. I earned it. JUDGE: Was the money held in a joint account? WIFE: Yes, Your Honor. And I have the bank statements. JUDGE: The court will review them. Mr. Mitchell, do you have an explanation? HUSBAND: My wife is making this sound like theft. I was protecting my assets before the divorce. WIFE: Protecting your assets? You also canceled our daughter’s health insurance without telling me. She has asthma. What was I supposed to do when she couldn’t breathe? HUSBAND: I never told you not to take her to the hospital. WIFE: You told me to stop wasting money on medical bills because she was exaggerating her symptoms! JUDGE: Mr. Mitchell, did you say that? HUSBAND: I was frustrated. I didn’t mean it the way she’s presenting it. JUDGE: Frustration does not excuse neglecting a child’s medical needs. HUSBAND: Your Honor, with all due respect, I am the one who has been paying for that house for ten years. I bought my wife everything she has. She should be grateful instead of trying to destroy me because I fell in love with someone else. WIFE: Fell in love? HUSBAND: Yes. I fell in love with another woman. That doesn’t make me a bad father. WIFE: No, it doesn’t. But tell the judge what you told our eight-year-old son when he asked why you were leaving. HUSBAND: I’m not answering another ridiculous question. JUDGE: You will answer if it is relevant to custody. WIFE: He told our son, “Your mother ruined this marriage, and if you love me, you’ll tell the judge you want to live with me.”

My girlfriend stopped having sex with me to teach me a lesson, but three months later, she was the one crying when I finally explained what had changed. It started because I was always tired after work. I'd come home, kiss her forehead, eat whatever we had, and fall asleep. I thought I was doing nothing wrong. I was working hard, paying bills, and trying to build a future for us. But apparently, I was neglecting her. At first, she complained that I barely touched her anymore. She said she missed feeling desired, and I promised to do better. For a few days, I made an effort. Then work became stressful again, and I slipped back into my routine. That's when everything changed. Whenever I tried to initiate sex, she'd turn away and say she wasn't in the mood. The first few times, I didn't think much of it. Everyone has those days. But after two weeks, I started noticing a pattern. She still dressed beautifully when we went out. She still laughed at my jokes, sent me funny videos, and asked what I wanted for dinner. But whenever I touched her waist or kissed her neck, she'd gently remove my hand. One night, I asked whether something was wrong. She looked at me and said, "Nothing. I'm just not in the mood." I accepted it and went to sleep. A month passed. Then another.
