Leading up to PSG’s second goal, Akliouche drops in to get on the ball, brings it forward to provoke defensive behaviours inside the block
You then have the “dance circle” I’ve spoken about with rotations centrally to destabilise the opposition block - opens up the lane to find Hakimi running into depth 👌
We cannot escape or rewrite that Hakimi has been well below par this season.
It’s really nice to see him have a phenomenal game tonight…..but it’s against Le Havre.
He needs to regain his consistency.

PSG’s rotations are at it again.
Starts with Akliouche dropping & splitting the CBs (à la Vitinha). His reception & forward carry then triggers the movement higher up the pitch to influence the opposition and create gaps.
One more detail here is Mayulu’s direction & weight of pass. Idk if it’s intentional, but I think other players would put more weight on it and play it into the space in front of the teammate. I feel that by playing it the way he did, he puts Hakimi in the best possible position to score while denying the CB any chance to force the play wide.
Warren, Senny, Quentin, David all together on the pitch. What a sight.
There’s quite rightly discussion about the increasing gap in step up between the academy and the Pros.
However, we should celebrate that the pipeline does still continue apace.
I presume all of the top EPL clubs who played fellow EPL in the cup last night deployed their strongest teams with no rotation right?

And another today less than one minute after coming off the bench.
Unai Emery l’apprécie beaucoup. Ibrahim Mbaye, qui reste sur deux passes décisives en Ligue des champions avec Aston Villa, imprime sa marque en Angleterre.
