I have not read something more relatable than this in a while.
“Embrace the chaos the same way you embrace the calm.” A great way to look at life.
I first saw Simple Minds in 1991, at Massey Hall. I’m only 18, a warm summer June night w/ a girlfriend & we shopped at Sam The Record Man & HMV, & ate before the show at Mr. Greenjeans at the Eaton Centre.
Tonight I saw them for the 8th time, brought my 19 year-old son, & he bought me a beer, & the show 34 years later was probably the best I’ve seen them play - certainly the most euphoric the crowd has been.
Go to shows. Drive places. Travel your ass off while you can, if you can. Embrace the chaos the same way you embrace the calm. Commit to someone. Have kids. Realize it never was about you as much as you thought it was…..& the payoff is your son buying you a beer at Simple Minds 34 summers after you first saw them.
Fuck yeah.

I'm going to use this in my doctoral class on public health communication. The old model of communication was all about preventing panic. But the cost of that is increased distrust. The only way out of the much of distrust is with overwhelming transparency... and that means DATA.
A great opportunity for those interested in in clinical trials.
