Andy Pages's father is a carpenter in Cuba. His main job was fixing up boats. He had friends who worked with wood, and they would give him lumber, and he would make his son baseball bats. That is where the bats came from. A man in a shop, making them by hand, out of whatever his friends could spare. Tonight that son drove in the two runs that put the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. Here is the distance between those two sentences. Pages grew up in Cuba playing soccer and basketball and baseball. He was one of the most recognized young players on the island and he never played a game in the Cuban National Series. At 16 he told his family he was going to the Dominican Republic to try to get a contract with a Major League organization. Here is what he says about telling his father. "When I left Cuba, from the moment I told him I was leaving, he just started crying." "It was the first time I ever saw him cry." Then he went eight months without anybody signing him. Scouts told him he did not have the speed to play the outfield in the major leagues. After the Dodgers finally signed him, people questioned his weight. He did not go back to Cuba for about seven years. When he finally did, he brought something with him. "When I went back to Cuba, I took him a few of my bats." The man who carved his first bats out of scrap got handed the real ones. Now here is the part that is still true today. Nobody in his family except his wife has ever watched him play in person. Not one game. Major League games are not broadcast in Cuba. So his parents and his 18 year old sister follow his career through box scores and clips on YouTube. Phone calls frequently do not go through. When his parents do get through, it is usually around midnight where he lives, and he is asleep. Bad storms knock out the lines and he can go days without hearing anything from home. In July he made the All-Star team and could not reach his parents to tell them. He said he was not sure they knew. This is how he describes it. "Anything can happen to me in a game, and it won't be harder than all of that." The thing he says gives him the most joy is not the All-Star team. It is that people walk up to his parents in Cuba just to tell them how well their son is doing. Tonight, in Atlanta, Andy Pages went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs in the seventh inning to break a tie against the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers won 4 to 1 and the series with it. Somewhere in Cuba tonight, a carpenter is going to find out what his kid did from a box score.

I literally ended up having to throw hands over this opinion back in those years all while just trying to mind my own business cuz nothing was more feral and unreasonably aggressive than a rapid 2pac fan in the mid/late 90s. This is a safe opinion now.

La raza is a synonym for “the people” omg you stupid pasty bitch 😂😂😂😂
The Mexican radio station in Charlotte is called La Raza "The Race" and they aren't talking about a foot race. They are talking about the Mexican race. Their term is "Reconquista" - they believe they are reconquering land that was theirs. There's a local newspaper too - been around for years - La Noticia. So Charlotte has a Mexican radio station and a local newspaper all in Spanish...but we don't have an immigration problem. Right.

This why ion care when a call goes my team way & we win. Tht interception wouldve sealed the game but instead the receiver flops while grabbing our defender & they get a first down pi call & score the winning td. The time will come where some dumb fan will try to make me care lol
How is this a pass interference on the Rams?? The Broncos got gifted this call by the refs. This is absolutely rigged 🤦‍♂️

It’s really hard to even get to the Super Bowl let alone win it so all that SB fav talk is moot to me. As a childhood fan of the LA Rams I’m just gonna sit back and try my best to appreciate having two all time greats like Garret and Donald suit up for my team. #RamsHouse
More of Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett doing drills in the rain at Rams practice today.

Jeanie Buss has taken a lot of criticism, but her telling uncle Dennis no arguably saved the franchise.

Imagine if LeBron did this……smh
Kawhi Leonard’s legacy with the Los Angeles Clippers: - Demanded the front office trade for Paul George, forcing them to part with every asset they had including a young Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - Missed 243 games in 7 seasons (equivalent of nearly 3 seasons) - 2019-2020: Blew a 3-1 lead in Western Conference Semi-Finals - 2020-2021: Clippers reach Western Conference Finals without him - 2021-2022: Missed playoffs - 2022-2023: Eliminated in the first round and didn’t finish the series - 2023-2024: Eliminated in the first round - 2024-2025: Eliminated in the first round - 2025-2026: Missed the playoffs, locked up by Draymond Green with the season on the line - Played just 35 playoff games - No championships - No personal Conference Finals appearances - Demanded the front office continue retooling around him, causing them to trade for James Harden and depart with even more draft capital - Collected nearly $350 million in salary - Circumvented the salary cap - Cost the Clippers a further 5 first round picks - Inflicted a $30 million fine - Inflicted suspensions on ownership and front office with no pay - A personal $700,000 fine - Had his uncle Dennis banned for life Possibly the worst free agent signing in league history.

0.25 percent of Californians(if that) are from a gang. Somebody is sadly gunned down in LA over a hat that is considered gang related. The world: “yall west coast mfs is all lame.” Smh, you really can’t teach stupid.

The 2005 Yankees payroll was 70% higher than the second-highest team in MLB that season. The 2026 Dodgers payroll (including luxury taxes, according to Spotrac) is 15% higher than the No. 2 team.
