When it came to taking shots at Mike Bossy, Jethro would always step in. Still canāt believe Clark Gillies and Bossy are no longer with us.
Jan. 6, 1979. Nassau Coliseum. The late Dave Hoyda, who wore No. 8 for the #Flyers after Dave Schultz, made two mistakes in this clip: a) he took a run at second-year #Islanders winger Mike Bossy. And, b) he woke up the #NHLās scariest fighter, Clark Gillies. Both were no-noās as the #LongIsland team built toward its early 80ās dynasty. #Philadelphia #NewYork #hockeyfights #Leafs
An outstanding, two-way defenseman who never received the credit he deserved. Potvin was overshadowed first by Bobby Orr then by Paul Coffey, bcuz Coffey played for Edmonton.
Well said Captain Kirk.
I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenigās passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.
The Miller Lite commercials were the best, especially with Uecker.
Bob Uecker's "I must be in the front row" Miller Lite ad became bigger than the commercial campaign itself. The spot dates to the early 1980s and fit Uecker's self-deprecating persona perfectly.
He could be a baseball broadcaster, actor and comedian without changing the character much at all. Nobody played the lovable guy who knew he wasn't the star better than Uecker.
This was a great night. What made it better is the Yankees beat the Braves and Greg Maddux. If you remember when he was a FA, he used the Yankees to drive up the money then signed with Atlanta.
Wile E. Coyote was perseverant. He was also hysterical with every creative trap he attempted to use.
Great story.
